Courtney Love & Marilyn Manson: Saint Laurent Campaign Pics!

Check out Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson in the new Saint Laurent campaign titled The Saint Laurent Music Project.

The two musicians are joined in the campaign pics by fellow rockers Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink.

“@hedislimanetwit having gasms at the idea of rich ladies buying what we used to wear, finally someone got the actual look exact, no beanies” Courtney tweeted last month at Hedi Slimane, the brand’s creative director, about the line’s new look.

Great campaign.

I find this campaign a massive disaster. Whilst it’s not all bad in execution, I have nothing against Courtney Love or Marilyn Manson, the concept is terrible. None of those models represent the YSL men and women that were built by the maison during its life. In other words, men and women who wear and consume YSL will not identify with this campaign. It will only please CL and MM fans (the comments here and on other websites proves me right). But the sad thing for Hedi Slimane is that CL and MM fans are not YSL consumers and I find unlikely they will start consuming that brand now. In my opinion this campaign and collection will only push even further away the consumers.

Although I think Marilyn Manson has a cool voice, his music isnt for me. He seems to be a true artist though, and I think his portrait his haunting and the only one of the series that drew my eye.

I’ve let this settle in for a few minutes and think it’s ok. I see where they’re going with it. It’s provocative.

All for one campaign? Get a grip. I’m not a fan of them, but that’s a bit extreme.

@Rebecca: It’s not about the celebrities. As I said I have nothing against them nor am I a fan. It’s not about them. It’s the brand’s creative director and his work that bothers me. And it’s not just one campaign. The whole fashion show was a flop and that campaign is just an extension of his attempt to deconstruct YSL in addition to the name of the brand, which he changed, and the location of the head office, which was also changed to the US. I’m sorry but as a fan of YSL legacy I find this abhorrent. If they wanted such a rupture with the past they should’ve done it by creating a secondary line not ******** the main one.

LOVED BECK for YSL, and LOVE MANSON. Well done
