Christopher Abbott Leaving 'Girls': Report

Christopher Abbott, who played the role of Charlie on the hit HBO series Girls, will reportedly be leaving the show, the New York Post has confirmed.

“[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show,” a rep for the 27-year-old actor said in a statement.

“They’ve just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena,” a source told the publication. “He didn’t like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map.”

ARE YOU UPSET that Christopher Abbott is not returning to Girls???

Girls without Charlie is not Girls anymore!

lowkey his character was interesting and they ruined him…. he was a sort of guy that was too nice then they went from 0 to 60 and made him own a million dollar startup like that.. The whole second season didnt have an identity or voice at all.. i still have hope for the show even though its completely overrated .. there just below average sitcoms everywhere that when one like ‘Girls’ comes along we give it too much praise.. I’ll keep watching though..

noooooooooo! will be interesting to see what they do with that bc the season 2 ending implied he’d be sticking around for awhile.

Maybe he, like everyone else, find it unbelievable that someone would be in love with the character Marnie. Her character is insufferable.

crapshow anyway

who cares…nobody watches this crap

I hope he gives an interview and says what the direction was that his character was going that he didn’t like. The Marnie/Charlie story line is frustrating and cliche, so I’m not sad they’ll have to nix it now.

The direction of last season went downhill. Lena for some strange reason wanted to get naked and act completely bonkers in every episode, very strange. I’m glad he’s leaving that shitshow.

WHY NOW? seriously, the storyline btw Marnie & his character was finally going somewhere..

Horrible, horrible show.

Best move for Chris Abbot really. Playing a ***** whipped dickless character that is nothing more than a set prop in the show’s female narrative will end his career for sure.

I can’t imagine the show gaining much popularity with males. I gave “Girls” a try, but was quickly bored. It tries too hard to be a clone of “Sex in the City” for the Millenial generation, but the characters are too unbelievable.

The show should be classified under the chick fantasy genre. The main character being a fat and unattractive twenty something who somehow manages to bed numerous much, much, much (did I say much?) hotter than her guys, who in real life would never give her the benefit of a second look.

It really pays to write your own scripts if you are an unattractive actress. Not that Sarah Jessica Parker was a beauty queen, but at least she had some charm and sex appeal.

No wonder “Girls” is popular though. It has found its audience in the countless overweight young women in America who need empowerment and validation. Fantasy sells. But I personally won’t be tuning in.

Girls is ok in little bits but is not the grand series that everyone tries it to be, Lena is seriously overrated, her series is basically a lot of hipster music, some heart to heart scenes, some nudity & you have Girls

Maybe seeing Lena Dehum naked on the show too much drove him mad?
I mean I am sorry but who would fight over her? She is ugly. Even the guys on the show are ugly. Awful, awful show

ungrateful..

season 2 sucked…

Love Him. He was my favorite character!

I don’t blame him. That finale was so stupid.
