Earlier in the day, Tom packaged steamed dumplings at Din Tai Fung restaurant.

The day before, Tom and Olga were spotted arriving at Taipei Songshan Airport to start promoting Oblivion.

“I got it from kicking a guy in the balls,” Tom recently confessed about his injury on his recent film Jack Reacher during an appearance on the Graham Norton Show. “I had to kick him so many times I injured my ankle.” Check out the interview below!

This movie doesn’t look very good. Love the balmain dress on Olga.

    horrible dress.

So we are suposed to believe a shrimp that injures himself KICKING is Jack Reacher? Lee Child said he couldn’t find any “A listers” that were JR’s size and look to play him, so he went with Tom Cruise, who, according to Child, was able to “be” JR 70% and give “100%”. Well, I got news for you, Child – Tom Cruise is 100% NOTHING like JR, and if you couldn’t find a “A lister” to play him, go with a unknown who could do the job right. You fcuked the entire thing up, and ruined the movie for many JR fans. Shame on you. You SUCK.

This fellow’s simply pathetic. He’s 50ish, and the remark about kicking a fellow in his b—-s, is something a 20 year old would say. He’s already embarrased his son Connor, by wanting to ‘hang out’ at the clubs with Connor’s friends. Having Katie Holmes walk out on him seems to have crushed his enormous ego, but a normal man of his age would have moved on by now.
BTW, his co-star is a striking woman, but she is just that, a co-star. Time to move on to walking the red carpet with a date. Perhaps, even better, stop with the constant desire for publicity and lay low for a while.

The dress doesn’t work for me either. The first miss for Olga.

“I have no idea what to expect out of Joseph Kosinski‘s Tron Legacy follow-up, Oblivion. The film looks gorgeous, and star Tom Cruise and foil Morgan Freeman could be a great opposed pair.”

“As was the case with Tron Legacy, one thing very much in Oblivion‘s favor is the score. This time the work is from Anthony Gonzalez of M83, with Joseph Trapanese and singer Susanne Sundfør.”

  • Movie Making Miracle

    Joseph Kosinski On Oblivion
‘Getting any movie made is a miracle…’

Kosinski’s history with Oblivion stretches back years, and served as something to help keep his mind active during the drudgery of finding work when he first arrived in Los Angeles. “I was trying to get into the commercial/music video business as a stepping stone into feature films and mimic the path of Ridley Scott and David Fincher, the guys I kind of looked up to. So Oblivion became a way for me to keep my creative juices flowing because I wasn’t able to get any work at the time. It was kind of a side project,” he says.

“As a kid growing up I loved The Twilight Zone television series, the half hour episodes, with a small cast of characters, a very limited budget, and sometimes just a couple of sets. But somehow the stories had such big ideas, and big concepts to them that they always felt so much bigger than that show and even now they are a blast to watch.

It’s not that I am advocating for scientology, but my fear is where the LINE is. What’s next, are we going to ask all Muslim actors to give up their religion, how about Jewish actors, Hindi actors, seventh day Adventist, Mormon actors, Jehovah’s witness, SANTORIA ACTORS . My God, where’s the line. I also feel the more we promote this hate fest, the more we diminish AMERICA and our CONSTITUTION and BILL of RIGHTS. Like it or not, cult or no cult, in USA we are all allowed to CHOSE. You can worship a tree, a goat, a rat, snake, a cow, whatever; you can form a cult even. But that’s the beauty and the STRENGTH of our country. May God help us not lose sight of that?

Wow, doesn’t Olga have a great personality, a thousand times better than Kathy Holmes. I remember when Kathy was first going out with Tom, she seemed overawed and had to be “persuaded” to be in Oprah’s show and the Academy awards nights etc. She had to keep up with Tom.
Whereas Olga comes across as very confident, on par with A-listers like /tom and it is so easy to “like” her.
Tom could do very well to be with someone like her, rather than his ex-starlet wife.

  • The Bubbleship Featurette

Somewhat surprisingly, Kosinski — who previously directed the CG-heavy “Tron Legacy” — decided to go old school on “Oblivion,” incorporating as many in-camera effects as possible. So far, the impressive results look more realistic than some other recent efforts.

Instead of a computer-generated background, they used a printed screen on which they projected images taken from a Maui volcano. The all in-camera visual effects recalls earlier sci-fi films and appears to lend the film a more immersive feeling.

We get a behind-the-scenes look at the film’s two-person airship, known as “The Bubble.” Production designer Darren Gilford, concept artist Daniel Simon, and art director Kevin Ishioka walk us through the building of the craft.

In addition to creating a full-scale version of the “Bubbleship,” the crew also developed a version with just the cockpit on a gimble, in order to simulate flight (blue screened backgrounds were added in later, of course).

  • Oblivion: Last man standing

“I think that if you look at history, every empire, every era has a beginning, middle and end,” Kosinski, 38, said during an interview on a sound stage near Santa Monica airport.

“Look at Petra, this city carved into the sand that’s empty now.

“There’s something very profound about thinking there will be a time where our world will be the ruins of the future – our civilisation will be something that people will try to look back and study.

In Kosinski’s new sci-fi action film, starring Tom Cruise, this is explored.

The year is 2073 and an alien invasion 60 years earlier has left Earth in ruins.

Cruise plays ex-Marine commander Jack Harper, who lives above the Earth in a floating town and whose daily job is to fly down to the desolate planet and repair drones.

Kosinski built his reputation in Hollywood as a computer graphics whiz, first creating award-winning television commercials and music videos, and in 2007 was hired by Disney to make the visual effects-laden Tron: Legacy, the long-awaited sequel to the 1982 original, Tron.

It took more than three years to get Tron: Legacy into cinemas, but the film also helped Kosinski turn Oblivion into a reality.

He first came up with the idea for Oblivion eight years ago, soon after he arrived in Los Angeles and his career had yet to take off.

“I wasn’t having any luck getting any work in commercials or music videos, which is kind of what I came out for and, just to kind of keep myself from going nuts, I started on the side just writing this short story that I thought maybe could be a great first film,” he said.

“It was a small, contained, character-driven story about the last man on Earth and what it would be like to be the guy who has to say goodbye.”

The plan was to hire a screenwriter to turn his Oblivion treatment into a feature film script, but the 2007-2008 screenwriters’ strike made this impossible, so Kosinski’s agent came up with the idea of turning the story into a graphic novel.

  • why films beat fashion

Olga Kurylenko tells Stephen Jewell why films beat fashion –

Kurylenko had grown tired of the fashion industry’s artificial glamour. “I didn’t find the modelling jobs to be expressive enough, so I decided to do some acting classes, just for my own pleasure. In the end, my teachers told me that I should do it professionally so I thought that I should try because I enjoyed it so much and it’s worked for me so far.”
Although it is set on a devastated near-future Earth, Oblivion boasts a nostalgic retro quality that attracted Kurylenko’s interest. “It’s a post-apocalyptic movie and, even though we’ve seen plenty of those, it just seemed so original,” she says.

“There’s also some romance, which is written quite beautifully. The way that Joe wanted to do it was like all those movies from the 1940s as it’s very clean and pure.” Kurylenko plays Julia Rusakova, a mysterious astronaut who is rescued by Tom Cruise’s Commander, Jack Harper, after her spaceship crash-lands nearby. “I can’t really give it away but he brings me home and that creates a lot of questions in their lives,” she says. “He and his wife (Andrea Riseborough) are like the last survivors on Earth as all the other people have left and gone to other planets. The Earth has become impossible to live on and they’re like a mop-up crew, which is also about to leave.”

Kurylenko says Oblivion’s big-budget production was the polar opposite of the improvised methods Terence Malick adopted on To The Wonder.

“There was a lot of spontaneity and real things as you just became your character. You would never prepare a scene … he just turned the camera on and you were your character 24/7.”

  • A journey of redemption

Oblivion: A journey of redemption –

Cruise had expressed interest in the film for a considerable period of time, and officially committed to it on May 20, 2011.

For casting one of the lead roles opposite Cruise, the producers considered five actresses: Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde, Brit Marling, Noomi Rapace and Olga Kurylenko, and all auditioned on Aug. 27, 2011. It was subsequently announced that Chastain would play one of the film’s two female leads. In Jan. 2012, Chastain entered into talks for a part in the Kathryn Bigelow film Zero Dark Thirty and subsequently dropped out of Oblivion contention. It was later announced that the role had been given to Kurylenko.

For the other leading role, the producers initially considered Hayley Atwell, Diane Kruger and Kate Beckinsale. The three actors traveled to Pittsburgh to screen test with Cruise, who was filming Jack Reacher. The role finally went to Andrea Riseborough. Melissa Leo was cast at a later date.

  • WC13 – Oblivion

One of the big draws of Oblivion is that it stars Tom Cruise, and Kosinski said he turned to actor’s experience during production. Kosinski would frequently ask about his time working with directors like Stanley Kubrick and Paul Newman, and said he enjoyed hearing advice from an actor who played a character in the film.

“He’s made enough movies, he knows where the pitfalls are, what the audiences needs. What I like about Tom is he watches movies like a guy who buys his own ticket on a Friday night. He doesn’t watch it like a movie star,” Kosinski said. “He really puts himself in the context of a guy going to this movie knowing nothing about it so I found he was great for kind of stepping back and saying, ‘What does the audience understand here? What do they need to know? What clarity do we need here so they’ll enjoy these beats more later?’ He was fantastic. He was really great at that.”

In terms of Cruise’s scenes flying the Bubbleship, Kosinski teased, “People who watch closely are going to see an homage. Look closely, you’ll see a Top Gun shot I put in there just for those Top Gun fans.”
