I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers

For more than 20 years, Sue Mengers’ clients were the talk of the town, and her dinner parties were the envy of Hollywood. Now, you’re invited into her glamorous Beverly Hills home for an evening of dish, dirty secrets and all the inside showbiz details only Sue can tell you.

Her clients were the biggest names in show business: Barbra Streisand, Faye Dunaway, Burt Reynolds, Ali McGraw, Gene Hackman, Cher, Candice Bergen, Ryan O’Neal, Nick Nolte, Mike Nichols, Gore Vidal, Bob Fosse.

Appearing on Broadway for the first time in nearly 40 years, Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning superstar Bette Midler plays the legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers (1932-2011) in this new, one-character play written by Tony Award® winner and three-time Academy Award® nominee John Logan and directed by two-time Tony Award® winner Joe Mantello.

The Assembled Parties

Tony winner Richard Greenberg and MTC begin their 10th collaboration with the world-premiere production of The Assembled Parties. MTC Artistic Director Lynne Meadow directs the stellar cast that includes Tony nominee Jessica Hecht, Tony and 2-time Emmy winner Judith Light and Tony nominee Jeremy Shamos.

The Assembled Parties welcomes us to the world of the Bascovs, an Upper West Side Jewish family in 1980. In a sprawling Central Park West apartment, former movie star Julie Bascov and her sister-in-law Faye bring their families together for their traditional holiday dinner. But tonight, things are not usual. A houseguest has joined the festivities for the first time and he unwittingly – or perhaps by design – insinuates himself into the family drama. Twenty years later, as 2001 approaches, the Bascovs’ seemingly picture-perfect life may be about to crumble. A stunning new play infused with humor, The Assembled Parties is an incisive portrait of a family grasping for stability at the dawn of a new millennium.

Ann is a no-holds-barred portrait of Ann Richards, the legendary governor of Texas. This inspiring and hilarious new play brings us face to face with a complex, colorful and captivating character bigger than the state from which she hailed. Written and performed by Emmy® Award winner Holland Taylor (“Two and a Half Men”), Ann takes a revealing look at the impassioned woman who enriched the lives of her followers, friends and family.

The Testament of Mary

The historic collaboration between actress Fiona Shaw and director Deborah Warner results in the creation, for the first time, of a new work for Broadway, written by acclaimed author Colm Tóibín. The New York Times calls The Testament of Mary “beautiful and daring.” The New York Review of Books calls it “subversive and ruthless,” and lauds it for its “sensational theatricality.” And Entertainment Weekly says it is “spellbinding and emotional. A generous leap of imagination.” The production not only marks the New York theatrical debut for the multi-award winning novelist but will also be the first collaboration between Fiona Shaw and Deborah Warner to premiere on this side of the Atlantic.
