There are less than twelve hours to go until the nominations for the 2013 Tony Awards are announced and there are still a few more plays open on Broadway we have to fill you in on!

All throughout April, JustJared.com has been featuring the new musicals, musical revivals, new plays, and play revivals popping up on Broadway this season.

First up were the new musicals, then it was the part one of the new plays, the musical revivals, the play revivals, and now finally it is the second part of the new plays, all of which are female-driven!

For this week’s Broadway Bulletin, we’ll be featuring the revivals of the new plays: I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers, The Assembled Parties, Ann, and The Testament of Mary. Sadly, we had planned on also featuring Emilia Clarke‘s Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but it closed early two weekends ago.

The Assembled Parties

Tony winner Richard Greenberg and MTC begin their 10th collaboration with the world-premiere production of The Assembled Parties. MTC Artistic Director Lynne Meadow directs the stellar cast that includes Tony nominee Jessica Hecht, Tony and 2-time Emmy winner Judith Light and Tony nominee Jeremy Shamos.

The Assembled Parties welcomes us to the world of the Bascovs, an Upper West Side Jewish family in 1980. In a sprawling Central Park West apartment, former movie star Julie Bascov and her sister-in-law Faye bring their families together for their traditional holiday dinner. But tonight, things are not usual. A houseguest has joined the festivities for the first time and he unwittingly – or perhaps by design – insinuates himself into the family drama. Twenty years later, as 2001 approaches, the Bascovs’ seemingly picture-perfect life may be about to crumble. A stunning new play infused with humor, The Assembled Parties is an incisive portrait of a family grasping for stability at the dawn of a new millennium.

The Testament of Mary

The historic collaboration between actress Fiona Shaw and director Deborah Warner results in the creation, for the first time, of a new work for Broadway, written by acclaimed author Colm Tóibín. The New York Times calls The Testament of Mary “beautiful and daring.” The New York Review of Books calls it “subversive and ruthless,” and lauds it for its “sensational theatricality.” And Entertainment Weekly says it is “spellbinding and emotional. A generous leap of imagination.” The production not only marks the New York theatrical debut for the multi-award winning novelist but will also be the first collaboration between Fiona Shaw and Deborah Warner to premiere on this side of the Atlantic.
