Bradley Cooper Exits 'Jane Got a Gun,' Joins 'American Sniper'

Bradley Cooper has dropped out of one high profile project, but he has attached his name to another one!

The 38-year-old actor had to leave the film Jane Got a Gun due to scheduling conflicts after filming on his upcoming David O. Russell-directed flick American Hustle was delayed due to the Boston bombings. No word yet on who will take the role in the film, which will star Natalie Portman.

Bradley just booked a new role in Steven Spielberg‘s next film American Sniper, based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. Bradley actually optioned the rights to the book himself and set up the project at Warner Bros, according to Deadline.

The film follows “Texas native Kyle‘s journey from rodeo cowboy to SEAL Chief with the highest number of sniper kills in U.S. military history.”

UPDATE: Looks like Bradley has yet another project on his slate! He will star in the film Chef, about Paris chef Adam Jones “who blows his status as an up and coming chef when controlled substances lead to out of control behavior. Jones straightens out and returns to Paris sober, and becomes devoted to building a restaurant that can attain three Michelin stars, the mark of cuisine supremacy,” according to Deadline.

    He’s so ugly!

  • DJ

@ari: How is this unprofessional? It’s not his fault his current project was delayed.

  • zey

@ari: “unprofessional”? He’s like the 3rd or 4th actor to drop out… the film has been doomed from the start since Jude Law and the original director dropped out..

  • ace11

Can somebody please explain to me why people look at this guy as some type of god??

Women for some reason worship this guy…can’t figure out why

  • zey

he wasn’t even the first choice Jude Law was but he dropped out when the original director did.. Then Michael fassbender signed on and he dropped out now Bradley dropped out.. Bradley actually was doing them a favor by being a big name and saving the day at the last minute since it’s already started shooting scenes with Natalie.. who could they possibly get now that’s “big enough”.. the film is doomed..

  • Chezza

Actually Fassbender was the original one and dropped even before the director, for the Xmen movie, Jude Law was replacing him, then dropped when the steric director gave up. That’s bad for the greats actor who are already filming the movie, another replacement…

    @Chezza: @Chezza:

you’re right my mistake.. Apparently they went for Jake Gyllenhaal but he turned it down as well.. Besides Natalie being involved why would any big name want anything to do with this mess?

  • Chezza

But the script might be very good, Fassbender, Law and Cooper agreed to do the movie , just dropped out for diffent reasons, Fassbender had problmes with the original director, Law wanted to work with her, but she’s a bitch and gave up, so did him, Cooper has time issues.

  • zey

Sounds like Brad Pitts ‘World War Z’ to me.. that movie has had so many reshoots and problems and it looks like crap. With this movie they changed directors the day filming starts.. The film has already began shooting and they have no male lead? That’s an absolute mess..

  • Christina

Wow both ‘American Sniper’ and ‘Chef’ sound fantastic. And it’s probably good for him that he dropped ‘Jane Got a Gun.’

  • Juicy Lucy

I’m really looking forward to American Sniper. I read the book and I think Brad will do right by Kyle’s memory.

  • toby

Cause he quit “Jane got a gun” to play in Spielberg’s next movie.

  • Nina

@toby: That’s not why he left Jane Got a Gun. The Spielberg movie doesn’t even film until next year.

  • Shinaer

Does anyone else think it has to do with Natalie Portman? 4 big actors and the director have left this movie. Natalie is not only the lead but she is a producer for this movie. I bet it has something to do with her.
