'New Normal,' 'Go On,' & 'Up All Night' Canceled By NBC

More sad news for television fans today – NBC has announced that they have canceled The New Normal and some other shows as well.

The New Normal, which was created by Ryan Murphy and starred Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells, was beloved by many fans and many thought it would be renewed.

Other shows that got the axe are Matthew Perry‘s Go On, Christina Applegate and Will Arnett‘s Up All Night, Whitney Cummings‘s Whitney, Jesse Bradford‘s Guys with Kids, Jenna Elfman‘s 1600 Penn, and Brian Williams‘ news show Rock Center.

In some better news, it was announced that Joel McHale‘s Community was renewed for a fifth season and that the new shows Black List, Night Shift, and Welcome to the Family were picked up for next season!

I cannot believe what I am reading! Go On, Whitney, Guys with Kids and the New Normal are all shows I watch. And yet they renew Community? That show went downhill big time. NBC has lost its mind! These shows are hilarious. And Rock Center is good every week. NBC is really ticking me off now.

Their decisions are based on math … those shows just didn’t pull in enough cash :(

whitney was horrible

No, not many people actually thought The New Normal would get renewed. The ratings were awful. Pulling in 2-3 million viewers by the end of the season and ending up with a 1.4 demo for the finale. Awful numbers. Anybody with a brain knew it wasn’t going to get renewed.

I’m deeply disappointed in NBC’s decision to cancel Go on and The New Normal. Both shows brought smile and laughter into my home.

I liked Go On.

NBC may as well be a game show/ reality network. How you cancel all your Wednesday night comedy shows? I watch Whitney, The New Normal, Go On, Guys With Kids & Up All Night… This network never fails with cancelling really good comedy shows… Hopefully Whitney will get picked up by another network… Funny, her show 2 Broke Girls are doing amazingly great. Stupid NBC

Yeah Go On was great. The New Normal meanwhile was awful. Cannot stand Ryan Murphy and I want to punch Andrew Rennels in the mouth. Justin Bartha can get it tho. I dont get the hate surrounding Whitney. I liked the few episodes that I’ve seen.

bummer… whitney made me laugh…

What I want to know is how does a news show like Rock Center get cancelled?? It’s a NEWS show. Pathetic what the world is coming to.

The people at NBC are A-Wholes… so no need to even tune to that channel. #Morons

Poor Matthew Perry… he can’t catch a break, can he? Studio 60, Mr. Sunshine and now Go On… none of which made it past the first season.

Go On should stay. It still has a good 2 seasons in it. The rest didn’t need to be renewed form the get go.

@Eric: Agree, The New Normal had even an new episode with 0.7 in ratings, how was some fans thinking? that NBC is a charity network?
And as is a Ryan Murphy show at the end was a mediocre show.

Next? Glee who FOX renewed for 2 seasons but the ratings are sinking. Only this season they started with 3.1 and ended with 2.0 with a few episodes below 2. My bet Fox will cancel this show before the 6th season.

I am SO bummed. I LOVED the New Normal :(

I can totally understand why NBC cancelled “The New Normal” because well, it wasn’t that good. Withney, NBC never in the first place should have given it green light, so good now it’s gone cos is absolute crap. For the other hand NBC cancelled a perfectly great show called Go On!!. Matthew Perry’ show should’ve been renewed.

I haven’t watched NBC, FOX or CBS in years. I use to watch CBS for 2 and half men until they ruined it by letting Charlie go and canceling CSI Miami. Fox still show Raising Hope but I keep forgetting about it because there is nothing else on their channel I like. NBC has been going down hill for years and all the crappy reality contest shows made me just take them off my viewing list all together.

I think the last best show I watched on NBC was the West Wing and how long ago was that.

I’m SO happy that Community is renewed after all the **** NBC put that show through last year. Woo! I’m sorry about the other shows though…

I was a big fan of GO On. Hopefully Perry will land something before next fall’s lineup gets going. I work at DISH with friends who are probably bummed out over these cancellations, too. At least I have all of season one of GO On saved to my DISH Hopper, so I’ll be able to go back through and re-watch the season whenever I need a laugh. I won’t have to erase any of the episodes before I want to, either, because my hard drive can store up to 2,000 hours of entertainment.

The new normal was good. The season finale was awesome. I’m sad to see it go. Go On was soooo funny and witty and clever. I LOVED that show and I love Matthew Perry’s sense of humor. Whitney was so stupid. I couldn’t even watch one full episode.

NBC should have given Go On one more season to improve ratings. Viewers would have come around- it was so funny!

What a bummer.

Go On was well written and funny. The only NBC show I will watch now is Parenthood, if I remember that it’s on Thursday night now. Network TV is dying, in my opinion.
