Chris Pine Covers 'Men's Health' June 2013

Chris Pine shows off his buff biceps on the cover of Men’s Health‘s June 2013 issue, on newsstands today (May 13).

Here is what the 32-year-old Star Trek Into Darkness actor had to share with the mag:

On working out: “I work out because that’s my job. What I enjoy about it, beyond the vanity, is the Zen of it. I like getting out of my head: One great way is to sweat your face off. I appreciate that if you’re thinking of anything else, you’re not working intensely enough.”

On being a misfit in high school: “Just looking at a girl felt awkward. When you feel like an oddball, it never really leaves you. Even now, I’m better around people who are uncomfortable with themselves, the misfits.”

On the last time he cried: “I cry all the time—at work, at the shrink’s, with my lady. The Notebook killed me. Up destroyed me. Up was like the animated Amour.”

On what to cook for a girlfriend: “Steak: Sear the meat to create a few nice lines. Know how long to grill it so you only have to flip it once.”

    He is sooo gorgeous! great guy, would love to meet him in person one day.

  • Saddy

    “my lady” ….. who is that?!?!

  • oracle

    @Saddy: photos seem to have been made earlier in the year, when he was not with beard, probably the interview was also made at that time, so maybe he was still thinking ex girlfriend!

  • Cyn

    Nice interview. The “lady” part threw me off, because I thought…Never mind. Keep their heads ringing.

    Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing the movie. I don’t think he can top his performance in People Like Us, but I hope he at least tries :)

  • KissThis

    This guy constantly contradicts himself in interviews. Idk what to believe about him. He seems kind of fake to me.

  • Cyn

    @KissThis:

    I’ve come to the conclusion that the only people who know the real Chris are the ones closest to him. He’s always going to tune his response to whatever target audience

  • Irish fifty

    Cyn and Kiss This:

    “I’ve come to the conclusion that the only people who know the real Chris are the ones closest to him.”

    This is as it should be. He is a person, just as you and I are. I’m sure that all of us at one time or another have had our feelings hurt by someone who has said/done something based on false assumptions they have made about us. For him this situation would be magnified times 100.

    For him (or any celebrity) it would be exhausting to keep track of all the false assumptions being made by folks that don’t know you. Everyone has their own way of coping with things and it appears that for him he just has decided to concern him self with the thoughts/feelings/opinions of those closet to him.

    As an entertainer one adapts to one’s audience..nature of the beast.

  • Cyn

    @Irish fifty:

    Exactly what false assumptions are you speaking of in reference to my statement?

    Anyway, keeping track of what is said or not said and one’s actions is the reason why actors/actresses need good publicists.

  • Irish fifty

    Cyn, I apologize that I wasn’t more clear with my statement. The false assumptions I referred to was meant as a general statement. Nothing specific to it.

    And yes to the purpose of the publicist…my opinion is meant also as a philosophy I suppose..in that I meant in general it would be just to exhausting to have to worry all the time about what people think of me because they think they know me.

    No harm intended towards you or anyone else…just a generalized thinking out loud type thing…

  • Anne

    I agree with Cyn & KissThis. Chris Pine does contradict himself a lot. In other words he lies. He does say what he thinks is the best for himself in any given situation. Yes, HW stars do that but it doesn’t endear himself to those who follow him, because after awhile you no longer know what the truth is and what is just PR BS.

  • Cyn

    @Irish fifty:

    No worries. :)

    In meantime, I’m going to enjoy the publicity blitz if only for the eye candy.

  • Irish fifty

    Cyn..me too..he is rather lovely

  • Cyn

    @Irish fifty:

    LOL. That is a huge understatement.

  • rura penthe

    Ok so what’s the deal with all the “misfit” comments? Pine lies without batting an eyelid so the comments are deliberate. seems he wants everyone to know what a “misfit” he is/was. Trying for some sympathy??

  • Cyn

    @rura penthe:

    I have no idea if Pine was a misfit in school or not, and judging by the way he looks and handles himself in some situations now, I’d say he seems like a well- rounded individual. However, I don’t think that my interpretation has any bearing on how Pine feels about himself.

  • Irish fifty

    Agreeing with Cyn on this one. I’m sure that my interpretation of Pine’s behavior has no bearing on how he views/feels about himself. I’d be worried for him if it did.

    Makes perfect sense to me that only those closest to him would know the real Chris Pine.

  • bullsh8t

    i agree with whoever said he seems to adapt his responses to his audience. i wish he would show his real self to the fans rather than playing a part of what he thinks they might like because it is rather contrite (the notebook, really….eyerolling, the fangirls over at US weekly are swooning over this comment…which i expect is the reaction he was going for)….and the misfit comment…he’s one of those who grew into his looks so he may still feel awkward about them. as for the lady comment, i think he made this interview several months ago. i do like what he said about his dad…that seem genuine. the rest is more of the same neurotic bs.

  • Niki

    I wonder whether he cried with his lady before or after this comment?
    “But now he tells her where to go to dinner, what movie to watch, where they will vacation — everything. And he says that if she doesn’t like it, she can leave. He likes to rub it in Dominique’s face that she is dating a star and says she should count herself lucky.”
    Ow! at least they both agree he wants to be like Clooney!
    “Oh the tangled web we weave…” an’ all when two liars get together…

  • Anne

    The very private Chris Pine’s home is on the net for all to see….inside and out! considering the size of it though, not sure if I’ll call it a mansion or a palace…..but it’s the Daily Mail *rolls eyes*

  • rainforest girl

    @Anne
    It’s a beautiful home. perhaps he’s selling it? just wondering…the way it’s listed.

  • jason lee

    The pics are from when Jason Lee owned it and was selling. I think Chris bought it from him so I imagine the decor will be very different now.

  • rainforest girl

    @jason lee
    The article says Pine bought the house 3 years ago. They say it’s Chris Pine’s home. Are you saying that they are showing pics that are 3 years old?! how absurd. If Pine didn’t want his home shown why show it all?

  • Anne

    Gotta love the Daily Mail….well Zachary Quinto does! LOL

  • jason lee

    @rainforest girl:

    Not going to link it here as it gives the address but there’s an article online from August 2010 about Jason Lee putting it up for sale and the pics are all the same. I don’t think Chris has any choice in the matter of these being published then, if it’s on record that he’s bought it from him.

  • rainforest girl

    @jason lee:
    The article header:
    “Star Trek’s Chris Pine reveals his lush three million dollar compound..”
    “reveals” being the key word here. Many of the comments there assume (incorrectly) the interior is Pine’s. So are you saying the DM is lying?
    So many damn lies everywhere!!

  • jason lee

    @rainforest girl:
    This was reported on several other sites first and no mention of a “reveal” from Chris on those, though one did say that the pad was “revealed”, probably from a quick online search to find the original listing, which had roughly the same descriptions of the house as these sites. The DM know a bit of tweaking will fool the many gullible souls out there into thinking they’ve been given this information by the man himself. And it seems to work by all accounts.

  • rainforest girl

    @jason lee:
    Nothing is ever what it seems with CP…not even his home. Yep, I feel sorry for the “gullible souls” that read the DM. So no one knows whether he even owns the house now?

  • dwald

    If you look up the photos of his house you’ll see the master bedroom has crib and that there’s a kids play room which wouldn’t make any sense to chris since he doesn’t have kids so they are obviously old photos from the Jason lee selling it days back in 2010

  • -.-

    He cried whenever they had to go grocery shopping together…or do anything together. Nothing like picking out a bag of chips to get the emotions going. I’d hate to go through a drive-thru with this guy. *bawls* “I-don’t-want-PICKLESSSSS!!” *sobs*

  • :-)

    @-.-:
    LOL!!

  • BTW

    @dwald
    The photos in the DM doesn’t say it’s the master bedroom. Most people who read the article take it at face value. just because there’s a crib in one of the bedrooms, no one is gonna say OMG!! there’s a CRIB!!! no way is that Chris Pine’s home!! Those pics just have to Jason Lee’s….
    The crib could have been there for any number of reasons……hell maybe Pine has a secret baby!! lmao
