Kid Rock Slams Lip-Syncers at Billboard Music Awards 2013

Kid Rock takes to the stage to present an award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (May 19) in Las Vegas.

The 42-year-old rocker presented the award for Top Rap Song to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for “Thrift Shop”.

Before presenting the award, Kid Rock gave his opinion on the people who performed during the show before he hit the stage, and he certainly was not kind.

“Let’s give it up for people lipsyncing under pre-recorded music!” he said.

I’m glad someone said it.

Lol. Yes Kid Rock! He should’ve dropped some names.. :p

# 3

Can’t seem to access any MTV vids at the moment but I am curious… Who lip synced??!

# 4

I think everyone did, not one of them sounded live.

# 5

I’m right with you Kid Rock! I can hear recorded music on the radio. Even a little child can lip sync. I would like to hear them sing as they perform.

# 6

Agree with him,it’s time to bring back artists who can sing live ! Anyone can lip sync,it takes away from the live experience.

# 7

He just says it as it is.

@Well:

MJ lipped all of the time on award shows. lol

I agree with him 500%! I remember a time when shows like this you couldn’t come on stage and just dance and lip sync. You had to do it all.

You don’t see talent anymore like Prince, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, etc. These were multi talented artist and groups. No faking in their live shows.

Love Kid Rock! Tell it like it is brother.

he spoke the truth.

He is so freakin’ sexy….. and I’m glad he said it……

It is about time someone got honest and told them a thing or two.

Apparently they can’t sing live?

This is a music awards show? With these talentless hacks populating it? BB should be ashamed to put these people on the show. Geez – there are great singers out there – why do they always have these boors like Bieber on.

What is with these award shows? No one wants to see all these teeny-boppers. I dream for the day that real music comes back. Today’s music is just god awful. And Chevrolet, f**k you for giving Justin Bieber a Milestone Award. That little talentless-sh** doesn’t deserve crap. I will not be buying any Chevy product in the future just because of that. And thank you Kid Rock for stating the obvious. If these talentless teeny-boppers had to sing live, they wouldn’t have any fans now would they. Hahahah

Although I agree with what Kid said, I have to go back and remember all the great artists that appeared on ‘American Bandstand’ who didn’t sing live on his show, but did in concerts. I just get pissed off when the artists wear the dumb mics and are NOT singing. Why wear the stupid thing if you’re not singing live.

@Rocky:

I agree with you girl. I used to go to the Apollo when the Temps, Smokey, Jackie Wilson, Marvin & Tammy, and alot of the Motown artists appeared. They never sang live on American Bandstand, but sure did at the Apollo. I’m showing my age here, but those were the days were artists SANG!! I remember the last time Otis Redding appeared on the Apollo. God, what a voice on him.

Shout out to Selena Gomez !

Truth! you said, Kid Rock. The problem, Kid, is you’re got considerable talent, and your live singing justifies you having a record deal and albums. But these hacks are merely show appearances: at best they are average and if they sang live the hoax would be revealed, people would know to what extend they had been made fools of by the music industry. The Emperor not only hasn’t any clothes, he is also standing naked in downtown Manhattan.

Now kiddies, you should know there was a time when artists actually wrote their own songs and performed them live in front of many people. Consider The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, U2, The Cure, The Smiths, Nirvana. Granted, they didn’t have the extravagant stage set-up you see now, but they didn’t need to because the music was the extravagance. Go watch some of their performances on youtube and see what it’s about. You might like it.

(PS: American Bandstand was a dance show; not a music awards show.)

Ridiculous. It is because only pretty people are marketed today. Asking them to sing live ould expose their weakness. Music today is pathetic. One in every 100 new songs is actually good. Where has all the talent gone? Who buys this crap?

Kid Rock is right on (again)! More people need to call them out. If you can sing, you don’t need anything but your voice. Many of them use everything BUT their voice.

go kid. tell it like it is. love ya man

Call them all out! However Kid Rock is a messss!
