    LALALA Says:

JJ…Brown University is located in Providence, RHODE ISLAND not Massachusetts.

    Okies Says:

Going to a doctorate presentation tomorrow. This means from someone who studied for 8 years and did research. America is so easy in honoring people who did a great job ( I like Ben Affleck) but they go overboard with this honor, if you ask me.

    nectar Says:

honorary degrees are really so dumb.
it’s offensive to people who actually earn their degrees and if the honorees are any kind of smart they’d feel they were condescending as well as they know they didn’t do a single thing to earn it at all.
just give them an award but don’t call it a doctorate for crying out loud.

    Scarlett Says:

Honorary Doctorate? Why overreach? He doesn’t even have a bachelors degree. Why honor him with a Doctorate from an ivy league school? He is a mediocre talent…ok director, terrible actor. And Brown is in Rhode Island not Massachusetts.

i wonder if bill clinton will tweet to wish ben congrats like he did when eva longoria got her masters in chicano studies. LOL. don’t think so since he’s not latino and is not a race baiter.

College is hard work, right Ben? LMAO

    Aimee Says:

Ben is not the first person in Hollywood to receive an honorary degree and he surely won’t be the last. They are not even real and it’s not like they ever plan on using the degree anyways, they don’t need it. It’s just a way that universities bring attention and revenue to their school and it gets those honored to donate money to the school as an alumni. So you can stop complaining because universities do this every year and they’ve been doing it for decades. Yes, students go to school 8 years and work hard for it and their hard work and dedication pays off with their degree but don’t act like this is something new and unheard of.

    Brittany Ann Jade Graham Says:

According to Brown’s website he was honored for: Writing Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone and The Town. Directing Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo. Producing The Town and Argo. Acting in many films including but not limited to Good Will Hunting, Shakespeare in Love, Hollywoodland, The Town and Argo. He was also honored for his humanitarian work in finding the non-profit organization Eastern Congo Initiative as well as his annual support of and donations to the charities Feeding America, Paralyzed Veterans of America, A-T Children’s Project, and the Jimmy Fund.

    Journalistic Says:

Agree with everyone who has already stated how much of a joke this is. Honorary degrees are pathetic and they truly take away from the people who have actually struggled and worked their asses off for their degree. Not only that, they also make me think less of the university! I wouldn’t be too pleased if I was a Brown student right now.

    Brittany Ann Jade Graham Says:

Lots of celebrities have received honorary degrees including Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Bob Barker, Billy Joel, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Tyler, Stephen Colbert, Bill Cosby, Meryl Streep, Mike Tyson, etc etc etc

    lovely pictures.congrats ben!

    @Brittany Ann Jade Graham Says:

I think everyone is pretty much aware that is a regular thing – seems slightly obvious since most commenters have strictly protested against honorary degrees with no mention of Affleck. The point is that such degrees are not cool and the fact that it’s a common thing doesn’t make it okay.

  17. 17
    Brittany Ann Jade Graham Says:

@@Brittany Ann Jade Graham: Who cares whether or not you think its okay or cool? It’s not a real degree and none of them use it to get jobs. It doesn’t have any affect on the actual students graduating with real degrees from getting jobs and starting their careers.

ASIANS REALLY CAN READ MINDS!! Says:

    YES!!!! ASIANS CAN READ MINDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They can hear, and see what you’re visually thinking. This is the absolute complete truth!!!!!
    .
The reason a lot of Asians have completely expressionless faces is so they don’t accidentally show facial expressions when people think things they don’t like, find funny, astonishing, etc, and Asians segregate so their not nearly as susceptible to that happening.
Asians also segregate, and are untalkative to avoid accidentally saying things that are similar to what people are thinking and going to say.
    .
Try thinking, and visually picturing things that are as wild as you can when you are around Asians, and look for Asians who give people dirty/particular looks for what appears to be for completely no reason.
    .
PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE!!!!! THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW THIS!!!!!

  23. 23
    Geography101 Says:

Mass? Really? Have you never seen Family Guy Jared lol I agree honorary degrees are bs. Unless you really invent something and change the world like a real genius would – you are insulting people who dedicate years and hard work to earn that same degree.

  24. 24
    Geography101 Says:

So what are you going to do with that diploma Ben? Shove it up your wife’s stretched out v-jay? Too bad an honorary diploma doesn’t buy you any brain power.

  25. 25
    WTF Says:

How much has Ben paid for this degree? He can’t earn it, so he buys it. What a shame for both Affeck and Brown University.
