Lena Dunham: 'Girls' Porn Parody Grosses Me Out

Lena Dunham and Zosia Mamet film scenes for the third season of their HBO comedy series Girls on Friday (May 24) along Classon Avenue in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The day before, Allison Williams was spotted filming scenes in Manhattan with co-star Alex Karpovsky.

Lena recently sounded off on Twitter about the Girls porn parody, This Ain’t Girls XXX.

“Okay, I wracked my brain to articulate why I can’t just laugh off a porn parody of Girls and here are 3 reasons: 1. Because Girls is, at its core, a feminist action while Hustler is a company that markets and monetizes a male’s idea of female sexuality; 2. Because a big reason I engage in (simulated) onscreen sex is to counteract a skewed idea of that act created by the proliferation of porn; 3. Because it grosses me out,” Lena said.

“It’s important to me to be honest about the complexities of having that out in the world. Love, Lena (porn name: Murray Broadway),” she added.

    Lena is right. Her series empowers women, porn definitely doesn’t.

    Lena’s character Hannah wears the most unflattering clothes I ever seen for her body type. I truly believe that Lena has chosen not to lose the weight (which is not much 15-20 lbs) because she believes that it makes her character more dynamic…which it doesn’t.

    THAT BODY grosses me out! Lena hit a gym and work your upper body. You look awful!

    Jean shorts are making you look crazy boo boo. Damn shame.

    She doesn’t have to be slim to look good but a little cardio in her life would do wonders! Also, wearing things that flatter your shape wouldn’t hurt ither and FYI the characters on Girls are anything but empowering with their multitude of self inflicted problems. Passing up a great job opportunity because one is a mental case is not empowering

    I think her statement is highly hypocritical. She sells sex, and shock, and nudity, and kinky/perverted sex, just like porn does. She just wraps it up in a hipster package, where the people doing those said actions, look sort of geeky, and hipster. But there’s no difference between her series and porn. She had a guy have rough/kinky sex with a girl, after which he came on her chest, and you could see his ***** on her chest. How is that different than porn? She has a guy talk about weird/strange fetishes while he’s having sex with her character on the series? How is that different than porn? She is delusional, and of course highly narcissistic, if she thinks that her show is any better. There is no meaning or depth behind the sex scenes on her show. Sometimes there isn’t even a purpose for her getting naked, yet she insists on being naked. Prime example: Her character at one point plays ping pong in the nude. Who does that? And what is the point of that? Lena Dunham just doesn’t want to admit that she’s narcissistic, and delusional, and gets naked out of pure exhibitionism, the same way porn stars do.

    Who cares they make porn parodies out of a lot of lot of shows or movies. Besides her show at times is almost soft porn.

    what up Says:

    @Jennifer: Her series does not empower women. It might empower her to some degree as she gains fame and some money and other opportunities that will led to more money and fame. But a tv show does not empower people. It entertains them.

    @what up:

    You’re mostly right: the only person empowered by Girls is Dunham (she gets to act out her fantasies onscreen while also giving a middle finger to those who are repelled by her) – but believe me, NO ONE is entertained by the show. It’s a train wreck at best, compete with some rubberneckers.

    And it’s laughable that Dunham is “grossed out” by the Girls porn parody. Honey, your entire series is a porn parody – you just take it so, so seriously as your “art” that you can’t even see it. Your remarks are disingenuous in the extreme.

    @gefeylich:
    I am entertained by the show. I find it incredibly interesting to watch and quite realistic. The concept is rather simple. If you don’t like something, avoid it. Sure it’ll be hard, when it’s all over the net, (being critised mostly rather than praised) but there is a way. Not caring. Haven’t you realised that by giving a **** you make the show what it is? And in conclusion, I’d watch Dunham having gross sex over Kim Kardashian and Kristen Stewart existing any time.

    @Ohboy:

    I think she is portraying a reality that is out there, thanks to porn. This is the generation of men and women that were raised with this stuff at their fingertips and think it is the norm. And girls think they are not with it if they don’t comply. Parents leaving sex ed to the internet. Check out Cindy Gallop’s TED Talk, She addresses this issue quite well.

    Those shorts need only be one size bigger and she would not looks so damn fat in them, even a skinny girl squeezing herself into too small pants looks fat.
    DONT WEAR TOO SMALL CLOTHES

    She made more than $10 million in 2012 just by showing her lard. She’s a smart girl!
