Emma Watson: Success is 'Incredibly Unnerving'

Emma Watson flashes a smile as she arrives at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday (May 30) in New York City.

The 23-year-old Bling Ring actress recently opened up about feeling inadequate despite her big success.

“It’s called the impostor syndrome. It’s almost like the better I do, the more my feeling of inadequacy actually increases, because I’m just going,” Emma expressed. “Any moment, someone’s going to find out I’m a total fraud, and that I don’t deserve any of what I’ve achieved. I can’t possibly live up to what everyone thinks I am and what everyone’s expectations of me are. It’s weird — sometimes [success] can be incredibly validating, but sometimes it can be incredibly unnerving and throw your balance off a bit, because you’re trying to reconcile how you feel about yourself with how the rest of the world perceives you.”

She’s got a good level head and that’s what I like about her. There’s no ego there like so many young stars.

# 4

She’s smart and well spoken, it’s nice.

# 5

she’s brilliant. Her interview in Rookie was one of the best things I’ve read in a long time. Honest and smart.

It sounds exactly like what Julia Roberts’ character Anna Scott said about herself in the film ‘Notting Hill.’

“One day, not long from now, my looks will go, they will discover I can’t act and I will become some sad middle-aged woman who looks a bit like someone who was famous for a while.”

And I’d tell Emma what Max told Anna. “Nah, nice try gorgeous, but you don’t fool anyone.”

Emma Watson is too good and too smart, and she has a bright future ahead. She’ll do just fine.
