Miley Cyrus Covers 'Billboard' After Parent's Divorce News

Miley Cyrus shows off some skin on the cover of Billboard magazine’s latest issue.

Here’s what the 20-year-old entertainer, whose parents filed for divorce just the day before, had to share with the mag:

On not liking her older music: “Right now, when people go to iTunes and listen to my old music, it’s so irritating to me because I can’t just erase that stuff and start over. My last record [2009's EDM-inflected Can't Be Tamed] I feel so disconnected from-I was 16 or 17 when I made it. When you’re in your 20s, you just don’t really know that person anymore.”

On “We Can’t Stop”: “I didn’t make this song for the critics, but for the people living it. I’m 20 years old and I want to talk to the people that are up all night with their friends. It’s based on a true story of a crazy night I had: When I heard the song for the first time, it captured exactly what I was living.”

On her work ethic: “I never stop working, ever-I put my track list together this morning. I want my record to be the biggest record in the world, and I’ve given everything to get here, even down to friends and family and relationships-I’ve just put this music first. That’s been kind of a trip: It’s not like I’m losing who I am-I actually found out more about who I am by making this music. I’m going on a journey, and that’s more than a lot of 20-year-olds can say. And I’m still going to change so much. Because I’m not the same person I was six months ago-I’m not even the same person I was two weeks ago.”

I’m somewhat of liking the new Miley, I just feel like she’s trying to hard to be somebody else I hope that made sense I wish her the best in her career at least she has some type of talent unlike others..

    Asha Says:

lol, I love how she says “when you’re in your 20s” like she is 28 or something. She is barely in her 20s. As for her song being based off of a true story…She didn’t even write the song, so I am confused as to why she claims to have made the song. She is just the singer.

    jenny Says:

lol at “I didn’t make this song for the critics, but for the people living it” and i just heard that the song was made for rihanna but she turned it down

    sammy Says:

@Asha and @jenny.. yeah isn’t that strange? just a few days ago there is an article that this song was written for Rihanna and now she is saying she wrote it XD

    Ugly *******

    lori Says:

she’s a loser… she comes off as miss know it all. “more than most 20 years olds can say they’re doing” um… ya its a pretty easy life when ur dad paved the way for u innit? she may have had to prove herself, but just getting in the room with certain ppl is impossible for most 20 year olds.

also….most 20 year olds are in university, miley. maybe you should go to school.

    ha ha Says:

    A$$hole

    Josephine Says:

She did say “when I heard the song for the first time” not “when I wrote this song”. I think she is just so self-important that she thinks of herself as a true artist who can make any song her own and special which is obviously a bunch of BS. If anyone likes this song it’s because of the person who wrote it, not Miley’s awful voice. Plus her first answer is cringe-worthy. I get her point about being ashamed of thibgs we did in the past but she should know what is ok to say and what is not. She is irritated that people are still buying her album but if it they didn’t she wouldn’t have half of her money. She should shut up, learn to appreciate and stop undressing for every single magazine. .

    Effy Says:

It’s amazing how uneducated she sounds 90% of the time.

    hmmm Says:

why do Hollywoods 20 year olds think they are lving the lives that other 20 year olds live..NO YOU DON’T MILEY. You have millions, you only party with other famous people. You have no clue how the real lives of 20 year olds are. You are not worldly ! You make music, party, date Hollywood actors and do photoshoots. Shud Up Miley. Make your music but please muzzle it.

    kylie Says:

She should move to France and reinvent herself. This new image isn’t working unless she is trying to repel people.

  14. 14
    Tomax Says:

She didn’t even write “we can’t stop”. It was written originally for Rihanna. Apparently these idiot girls can’t sing or write.

  15. 15
    Charline Says:

@Kylie, Why in France ? French people doesn’t deserve that… And most people doesn’t know her

And yes she sounds stupid and not very close to reality with her adolescent crisis.

(sorry for my english i’m french^^)

    EndOfTime Says:

    She’s trying to hard

  17. 17
    True Says:

    Try Hard

Miley, you DON’T have a career and NEVER will. You’re famous for your personality/persona.

    Sam Says:

In her 20′s?? LOL. She is only TWENTY. So she JUST got into her 20′s. Btw this song is worse than even her last album… she’s talkin like its a masterpiece!!

    lala Says:

miley 2.0? im guessing this is a new improved version although i dont believe it to be “Improved” at all.

    LEN41 Says:

She’s irritated that people still like her old music and are still buying it? Is she serious? Such an ungrateful twit. Shut up Miley, just shut up and be glad that the world consists of idiots who enjoy your ‘music’.

  21. 21
    snap crackle pop Says:

I got the impression from her remarks that she “heard for the first time” the demo from whoever wrote the song.
But, then she “made” the track in the studio with her own voice (and her producer’s own input, etc.)

  22. 22
    liz Says:

LOL honey you just turned 20 a couple of months ago. just stop.

  23. 23
    Nathy Says:

I can’t stand this girl at all.

  24. 24
    TheDudeAbides Says:

True at no.17; True, Miley is getting rid of her old daddy [career] and replacing him with a new daddy [career]. Who looks more like that dude in all those 2008ish Tommy Bahama ads that she was crushing on when she was growing up at Disneyland. In other words, you’re right, the old Miley has no future. But the new Miley can write her own checks for as long as she wants. Like Sienna Miller says at the beginning of The Interview, “I have a bank account.”

  25. 25
    Jessie Says:

Gee, Miley can add lying to the list. That song was not based on her. Here is what the producer said.: ”When I originally worked on ‘We Can’t Stop,’ we had did it for Rihanna,” producer Mike WiLL Made It told MTV News. “The idea was more towards Rihanna. She heard ‘Pour It Up’ right away, and she didn’t even hear ‘We Can’t Stop.’” This is from thedrop.fm website.

The reasons Miley is claiming it was written for her is this statement in the same article where I found the above quote: The song, which talks about dancing while on molly and doing coke in the bathroom, will finally help Cyrus get rid of that tween image she has so desperately tried to shed since the beginning of her music career.

She not only doesn’t appreciate that her OLD music made her the star she is today, she’s lying now. Way to slap your fans in the face, you ungrateful beast. She’s willing to say she does hard drugs in other to get some type of cred? lol.
