    Variety says Says:

World War Z’ Could Surpass $60 Million as Monster B.O. Weekend Kicks Off
Paramount and Brad Pitt’s zombie thriller ‘World War Z” is having no trouble infecting audiences–the big-budget actioner could break $60 million weekend in what should amount to a record-breaking weekend for Hollywood at the U.S. box office.

Never before have three films earned more than $50 million each during a non-holiday frame, but, according to early estimates, the record is certainly within reach.

At $60 million, “World War Z” would also be Brad Pitt’s best debut of his career, topping the 2005 opening weekend of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” ($50.4 million).
”World War Z” is ticking slightly behind the projected No. 1 performer, Disney/Pixar’s “Monsters University,” which is currently tracking at $67-72 million for the weekend, although box office analysts warn “World War Z” could rise Friday night and possible surpass “Monsters U” in what would be one of the biggest B.O. upsets of the summer.
“Anything’s possible at this point,” one exec says, but as of Friday afternoon, “Monsters U” is the clear winner.
In third place, Warners’ “Man of Steel” continues to attract audiences in its second weekend with a 60% week-to-week drop and estimated $50 million.
In less than one week of release, “Man of Steel” has grossed $242 million worldwide.
    More to come…

Full credit to the TEAM which worked on WWZ to turn it around. Credit to Paramount for sticking their necks out to pump in additional 20m.
And of course, as I’m a fan, – full credit to BRAD PITT for working so hard to promote the movie!

You know WWZ is doing well when trolls resort to bashing the Jolie Pitt children. You hags will reap what you sow.

What a great dad! I wish they enjoy the sightseeing. Both girls are tall. See fast they flies and Shiloh has grown tall. Zahara grows tall, too. How amazing and precious!
Has anybody still remember how malnourished and frail Z once was, how her legs couldn’t walk straight due to lack of calcium? Now look at her!
My fave! How precious! Say whatever you want about JP, but Z is a living proof of their consistent and constant love and care for their children.

FRIDAY 3:30 PM, 3RD UPDATE: Here’s how the domestic box office is looking right now based on matinee trends, according to my sources.
Disney/Pixar’s 3D toon prequel Monsters University
(playing in 4,004 theaters) is opening and easy #1with $25M-$28M Friday (not including Thursday’s tally) and a likely $75M weekend. That would make it Pixar’s second highest opening ever, behind only Toy Story 3. Placing
    #2 is Paramount’s World War Z
(3,607 theaters) co-financed with Skydance Productions which is looking like $20M Friday and $50M-$55M for the weekend which has the studio giddy with relief after all that pre-release bad buzz for Brad Pitt’s zombie pic.
In #3 is last weekend’s top opener, Warner Bros’ and Legendary Pictures’ Man Of Steel
(in the widest release, 4,207 theaters), with $17M-$19M Friday and around $50M.

I’m from a high context society.
So I had expected there would be two studios’s marketing tactic battle when Paramount moved WWZ release date to one week after MoS.
Remember which industry blog had started bad buzz ? Someone must have been wispering bad rumors to Sharon Waxman and her likes.
It’s all about the big studio’s investors’s profitability from their investment. Warner’s current shuffle is very interesting to read.

So cute that the older children got to enjoy the WWZ premieres. Madd & Pax in London, Pax in Australia and South Korea and Shi and Z in Moscow. What a wonderful experience for all of them.

    Chris Says:

A movie that makes more than it’s budget is not considered a flop. It was a “flop” domestically and may not have met overinflated expectations, but not overall when you consider the worldwide box office. If I made $32 million on something I’d be pretty happy. The studio certainly reconsiders sequels as they may do worse, but you can’t call $32 mil in your pocket a loss by any means. It’s no Avengers or Man of Steal to be sure but it’s still $32 million profit. I guess you must be very wealth to sneeze at that. I guess it’s crazy trying to talk sense on here though.

I’ll just leave it at cute kids who look happy and move on.

Shiloh has dressed like a boy for years now….maybe she’ll end up like Chaz Bono some day…whatever.

  21. 71
    Jen the Hag Says:

ohh you didn’t know Chaz Bono was dress in pink tutu and other girly stuff when she was of SHILOH’s age. Angelina was a tomboy when she was growing up. You will never know how a person grow into by just looking at the way they dress.. SO STFU!!

Didn’t you know HAGS like tamshit and Joe said that if a movie did not earned double its production budget for example like say WWZ which the moron hags said should earned 500 mil .. then it’s a flop according to the two HAGS John Carter with a budget of 250 mil should earned 500 mil.. less than 500 mil is considered a flop or that only applies to Brad and Angelina movies ..hmmmmm!!!

  23. 73
