Freida Pinto: We Need More Female Writers & Directors!

Freida Pinto pulls her own luggage after arriving on a flight at JFK Airport on Tuesday (July 9) in New York City.

The 28-year-old Indian actress flew in from Los Angeles.

Last week, Freida‘s boyfriend Dev Patel was spotted giving a thumbs up while exiting the Sunset Marquis hotel in Hollywood.

“The only way to cure that problem is to have more female writers and more female directors. There will be a different perspective when you have women writers and women directors. There is sometimes a misconception that a female director can’t really tackle manly issues and definitely Kathryn Bigelow proves them wrong,” Frieda recently told CNN about the male-dominated world of film.

That’s true. Now I understand why we have many stupid actresses who actually suck.

More female writers and directors!!!!!

# 3

pretty AND smart, rare combination. I agree with her 100%

# 4

she’s right.

# 5

She’s not wrong.

# 7

Yep, but that won’t help your extremely bad acting, Freida.

She blamed Michael Winterbottem for the failure of Trisna. It was not Micheals fault at all. Its because she has no acting talent in her. Whenever actors/actresses fail to deliver, the always put the blame on the director or script writer.
So lets see now. No talent and no career anymore. Now she is playing the gender card. It does not matter about male or female. As long as someone make a great story and is succesful in doing it. Why does it matter about a male or female director? It really doesn’t.

Kathryn Bigelow is playing it like a man…she’s awesome but but other “real” feminist directors like Jane Campion are infinitely more interesting.

Uh, there are thousands of female writers and directors, i’m sure. Just like there are thousands, possibly millions, of ORIGINAL stories to be made into film. Unfortunately the execs are the ones to blame for not looking further out their luxurious office windows.

@krishna:

You talk such crap Krishna. Don’t be an idiot! I only watched the film because Frieda in every single interview TV and print has only praised Michael Winterbottom and said she would love to work with him again. And I thought she played Trishna beautifully. In fact the majority of the people do. Its a very indie film so it wasn’t expected to do well anyway.

Oh and I am a script writer and I would like you to know that script is King. You need a great script to conceptualize and then make a great film.

@Minnelli:Another fake ID?
Freida did blame Michael Winterbottem after the reviews of trisna came out. She said that it was not her fault, that Micheal and the script writer didn’t give her a hard role to play and all. Trishna did not fail because it was indie. it failed because tof the lead actress, and Freda being the lead sucked. Riz Ahmed was wonderful in acting. Pinto lacks acting talent in general.
Most people who saw Trisna thought Freida acting was atrocious. Not onl critics, but alot of audience members too.
As for script writing. The script writer for trisna was fine. It was simply because the lead actress was terrible, so she could not deliver.

@Minnelli: There are plenty of good scripts around. You need the right actors/actresses to play them, Actors are the one who bring those characters to life onscreen. They are like the players in a game.
If Winterbottem chose a better actress for trishna, the movie would not have failed. The movie was riding on the character of trisna mostly.
And only an idiot would think Freida is a good or even decent actress. Is that why she doesn’t appear in films anymore? Her PR sending stories from last week to JJ for cheap publicity?
She will do anything to keep herself relavent.

@krishna: We should have more women directors, script writers, because they have a bit more to offer and they are persistent in what they are after. I admire inspirational women like Anjelina Jolie, Nora Ephron, Penny Marshall, etc. Hi Krishna, remembered you, from hawaii, “Last Resort”. I’m so proud and happy to know that there are these talented women out there and possibly not sure how to approach this responsibility because it seems like its a man’s world. Let’s change that, for once. Encourage these women who do want to take on this responsibility and be true to it.

@krishna:
Whatever! You have made up your mind so your rants cannot be positively or even constructively influenced. Maybe in your free time which u have plenty of you should read some reviews that F got for trishna. There’s always going to be a bad review or two. Meryl streep got a few for Julie and Julia for crying out loud which makes me laugh. Peace out.
