Ben Affleck Set for David Fincher's 'Gone Girl'!

Ben Affleck is in talks for the leading role in the upcoming David Fincher-directed picture Gone Girl, according to Deadline.

The 40-year-old actor’s potential new role, which is being produced by Reese Witherspoon, is a husband whose wife disappears on the day of their fifth anniversary, with him being looked at as the main suspect. No leading lady has been cast yet, as it appears Reese will only be acting as producer.

Ben‘s involvement in Gone Girl means that his upcoming directing venture Live By Night will have to be pushed back slightly to accommodate.

Gone Girl is based on Gillian Flynn‘s popular novel of the same name.

That’s not who I pictured at all in this role. BA seems to old for the role, thought the husband was much younger. Watch they cast Reese now. Ugh, i hate when REALLY good books end up with mediocre actors in their part!! Ben is much better at directing than acting, he mutters and shows little expression in any roles he plays.

I think he was perfect for this role. As i read the book, i pictured a guy like Affleck-talk, dark features, douchey looking, etc

I want Charlize Theron or Jessica Chastain for the wife

Really excited for this film, i loved the book. If you haven’t read it you should.

WHY is he still trying to act? He sucks. Stick to directing, Ben.

i was hoping it would be someone like Jeremy Renner, maybe even Ryan Gosling. But Amy Adams has to be Amy!

I agree completely. Although I really like him, he’s too old to play the role.

How is he too old to play the role? Both the husband and the wife in the book are supposed to be in their 30′s or 40′s so it’s critical that they don’t cast too young, not the opposite. His age is perfect for this and i hope they don’t cast a female too young because like i said, the age of the characters is important.

OMG!!!!!! I’m freaking out! He’s perfect for Nick! Although while reading the book, I pictured Dylan Mcdermott as Nick. Either way, I think Ben is going to be amazing!

It doesn’t really matter who the husband is: I must say I had no particular mental image of him but the Wife: now who they cast there is important. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up!

I think he’s perfect for the role. He’s supposed to 35 in the book. A couple years doesn’t make a difference. And he’s a good actor ,watch him in Hollywoodland. If he’s good enough for Fincher he’s good enough for me

I pictured Seth MacFarlane as the husband since the book stated how he has the kind of face you want to punch, with his smug-type look.. overly smiling at everything

He was always too good for that ghetto tramp J-LOW

    Nola Bee Says:

Well, if the character is younger, Jeremy is out, and if handsomer, that leaves Ryan Reynolds out. Also, Ryan is not a good actor either. Maybe they should keep looking. Ryan Gosling is my choice for almost anything.

I pictured Mark Ruffalo. And actually Reese would be good as the wife.. I can barely tolerate her.. she is so two faced.. it would be appropriate.
