Adam Lambert & RCA Records Part Ways

Adam Lambert has decided to part ways with his record label RCA Records after making two full length albums under the label, according to THR.

“I’ve had an amazing few years working with the team at RCA; I admire all of them a great deal, and truly appreciate the energy & enthusiasm that went into making both “Trespassing” & “For Your Entertainment” successes,” the 31-year-old entertainer shared.

He added, “That said, at this point, we are indeed having the oft-cited “creative differences” as to what my next project will be.”

“So after careful consideration, I have made the decision to respectfully part ways with RCA. My passion for the music & respect for the fans will always come first. I am excited to find a new label team who shares this vision,” Adam said.

Thank GOD for that. :) I’m so glad this fella has balls of steel and told them to shove it. :D :D Just wish he’d dumped them earlier….

Kudos to Adam for walking away from RCA and in the process keeps his integrity!! RCA is the loser in this turn of events not Adam!!!

Very good news for Adam. That covers album was a horrible idea, and showed no faith in him, consistent with RCA for the last few years. Much better for him to move forward, find another label that understands him and knows what to do with him, and he leaves with his integrity intact. Very courageous! So proud to be a fan :D

    Suzie Says:

Good for Adam. RCA did little to promote the album or do more than pick singles not written by Adam that did not do well on radio. so much for their music know-how about what to give to radio…. Will support Adam no matter what his future projects are.

I just hope his vision isn’t playing with his friends but putting himself first for once in his life and give us HIM and not all his “friends”. This guy is as good if not better than Gaga in the talent department but I just don’t think he realizes that.

I agree that Adam should not do a covers album. He is way too talented for that. However, it does make me nervous that he walked away before being signed. I hope it doesn’t sink his career. If the record labels out there are smart, they should jump at the chance to sign him.

@Jeff: Adam is a very savvy businessman and I’m sure he has thought this through! This is the best move for him. IMO

God his fans are delusional. He was DROPPED! His last CD BOMBED and his career is fleeting.

    Tess Says:

@xtincta: Honey, you are the one who is delusional :) His career is just fine: he joined the cast of Glee for season 5 and some Queen collaboration is in works. Also I have no doubt that he won’t be long without label, there are some rumors already. Cry more :) He did what actually Xtina, Britney, Kesha, Kelly should do. I really hope that Kesha will do the same really soon. RCA truly sucks and is a joke. That’s it.

    nika Says:

good for him. I actually liked his last album very much but they didn’t promote it at all. I hope he finds a label that can reposition him because this label had no idea who his fans are:-)

    Sasha Says:

@Tess: LOL Glee is nothing to be proud of. The ratings are tanking year after year, the music is $hit now more than ever, they’re treated like the plague at serious award shows and each episode is more PSA and nonsensical than the next. Adam is just lucky Ryan has a boner for him.

  14. 14
    Tess Says:

@Sasha: Dude, you are trying too hard :) Regardless of ratings show is prolonged for two more seasons. Also you never know what happens next. And 5 mil viewers a week is not a joke, just compare with other tv shows :) But if you think that everything is so bad I’m not going to continue this debate because it’s pointless. Have a nice day ;)

Good for Adam. He’s not only talented but also a businessman. He’s mature enough to know what he’s doing and creative freedom is what he wants. He’ll be just fine.

    KSE Says:

Best move ever! Trespassing is a masterpiece and much blood, sweat and tears were put into it. RCA did very little to promote it. I suspect announcement of a new label will be made momentarily. Adam’s career is going to skyrocket!

    Gleaux Says:

Way to go, Adam! I absolutely loved “Trespassing” and I was horrified at the thought of a covers album. I’m happy to see that Adam practises what he preaches and is being true to himself. Artistic integrity, baby!!!

    wilis Says:

Good for you, adam! onward and upward. it can only get better from here.

    Melody Says:

Artistic Freedom for ADAM .. I’ve been screaming in my head RCA

UNLEASH ADAM.. Finally the day has arrived.. ADAM set himself free.

I can’t wait to see the most talented man’s new creations.. IMHO

TRESPASSING was only the beginning.. So many possible great

singles on that album that RCA ignored.

    Coffeeschock Says:

    @Melody: Absolutely my thoughts!!!

    Judy Says:

A classic rock cd will NEVER make it to pop radio and classic radio stations won’t touch it. They play the originals.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Adam is in negotations or has already signed with another label. His career will take a nose dive if he stays with RCA.
Now is the time for his management company (also manages Katy Perry) to step in with their expertise although there is no doubt Adam is a good business man, as mentioned above.

    LeslaD Says:

Adam should go back to pure rock and roll and none of this sugary stuff. His 2 albums were horrible and he is one of the most talented singers ever. I hope he does something more along the lines of Adele and Led Zeppelin. Music that showcases his voice and is not so electronic or so average. I wish him luck.

    Elaine Says:

I’m glad Adam walked away from his RCA contract. They weren’t supporting his album Trespassing or his creative endeavors. And an 80′s covers album, NO WAY! Would not help his career. I wish him success in finding another label who understands his artistic vision and supports it. Love you Adam!

    AllysaMentor Says:

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Adam left his, label one day after landing the gig on Glee. I wonder,if RCA knew about it? Adam is a smart guy and most certainly has a master plan. Glee cast members record on Columbia. I’m not going to bad mouth RCA! As I don’t think it’s wise to burn bridges. Adam is the best!!!!’

    AllysaMentor Says:

Another thing when Trespassing kept being delayed I feel it,was because of NCOE written by Bruno Mars. It’s not a great song, but I feel RCA made Adam release that because they thought a Bruno Mars song would surely be a hit. Wrong!!!! Trespassing or Shady should have been released. My favorite song on the album is still Cholkhold. I hope they use in on Glee, SYTYCD, or Fifty Shades of Grey.
