Whatever the merits of the Zimmerman jury verdict may be, it had nothing to do with “stand your ground” laws. “Stand your ground” essentially holds that you don’t have to retreat if confronted; in states without such laws, the normal standard is that you must retreat if such retreat is possible before using deadly force.

In every U.S. state, regardless of whether it has a “stand your ground law,” a person who reasonably is fearful for his life and who reasonably believes he cannot retreat may defend himself up to and including the use of deadly force. Whether or not G. Zimmerman reasonably was in fear of his life can be debated; the jury apparently so believed. Whether we agree with that decision or not, we cannot ignore the fact that there was evidence justifying that jury finding.

As to this verdict, acquittals in criminal cases occur when the prosecution fails to prove its case. It does not necessarily mean the accused didn’t do it, it means that the prosecution didn’t do its job well. Look at Casey Anthony. Look at O.J. Simpson. Look at Robert Blake, Amanda Knox, Lorraine Bobbit, R. Kelly, William (Kennedy) Smith.

You can’t blame Zimmerman for the prosecution putting on a lousy case.

I have a suggestion!!! Lets split the country up into 4 parts !!! part Black__1 Part White__1 Part Hispanic & Indian __1Part Asiatics.. And NO going into any other part other than your own > That should keep all the racism down !!

Don’t know who I care less about: a bunch of spoiled actors whining about other peoples lives or the people who think it’s news….

I love all the armchair lawyers and judges. Just because you didn’t get the result you wanted or got the result you desired everybody is losing their mind. Become a lawyer or judge or sit on a jury and then make your mind up.

  • Ben

Dear Thugs, Think about it next time you attack a smaller man. #not so tough now are you?

  • Ben

Trayvon “Thug Life” Martin was much bigger and stronger than George. You idiot.

Honestly, could never work because everyone would want to be in the “White” Section. As much as they hate us, they are smart enough to know it’s good foe them too. It’s insane. Why not emulate us instead of hate us and pull your own ass out of your self-created immolation.

Detroit is a perfect example of what happens to a black run liberal society. Every black neighborhood in my town is a direct result of their own doing. No one is holding anyone down. They hold themselves down with their insane “culture”

The celebs who suport that son of bitch Trayvon Martin can go and f*** themselves.

Because when you sneak up on a man and start beating his head into the ground and do not stop you are not required to DIE. You are facing grievous bodily harm or death and IMMEDIATELY you can take action to stop DYING including LETHAL FORCE.

This should have never gone to trial and all the rocket scientists think they would have politely asked “Trayvon, why are you mad at me. Please stop this. You are making my head bleed”

This is America now…a nation of cowards and fools.

Teach your children well….keep your damn hands off of other people.

    Tragic? Yes!

    Stupid? Yes!

Guilty? Not a chance. Live with it….they call it THE LAW.

  • Captain America

    Of course they are.

  • Captain America

    @You are clueless:

You are an idiot. You are so dumb you don’t even know you are an idiot.

Try stopping black-on-black before you open your ignorant mouth.

  • Captain America

Your points about the law are 100% correct.

Where you err is that there was ZERO prosecution that could have convicted a man when the facts were presented. A racist jury could have, but you can’t make a legitimate self-defense, with all the evidence presented, into a murder conviction.

I wish the black community would stop hating that they are black and committing crimes against each other. No one wakes up in the morning and gives a damn if you are green, yellow, purple, white, orange, or black.

Your race hustlers have become multimillionaires playing you for the fools you continue to be.

  • Captain America

No, he does NOT make responsible gun owners look bad. Start slamming my head into the ground and I will also stop you by any means necessary. And if that means with a gun then that’s the way you will be stopped, dummy.

  • Captain America

Is there something wrong with your brain, Simon?

A man beats another mans head into the ground and he gets shot to stop him. And YOU think he should go to jail for it?

Go slam your head into the toilet bowl until you break the porcelain and get back to us, dopey.

  • Captain America

    No…YOU are DUMB.

The kid wasn’t innocent. The record shows that after Zimmerman left the scene Martin tracked Zimmerman down, snuck-up on him, and was bashing his head into the ground. The hotshot gangsta was cracking his head open and he paid the ultimate price.

  • Captain America

    Mike, you naild it.

I have LEO through my family and teach combat handgun and concealed weapon carry.

The legal term is “aggressor”. And once Zimmerman left the scene he wasn’t possibly in the role of the aggressor. Martin returned AS THE AGGRESSOR and lost all rights of self-defense while Zimmerman maintained them and fearing grievous bodily harm or death, used deadly force that resulted in a death. Tragic? yes. Guilty? Not a chance.

Sadly, we are such a dumb nation this actually went to trial.

Everyone seems to be forgetful that Travon attached this man. For everyone who is questioning what they should tell their kids about this case. I suggest you teach them to keep them hand to them selves. Violence is not the Answer….

OMG how many years ago was that? Do we really wanna be stuck in that era of time.. Its 2013 please..

This is the ignorance of America, as a government teacher I understand the law, most of you are bandwagoning and it is very frusterating to read. This has been made into a racial outcome because of the audience. I see a hispanic man and a black young man in a fatal confrontation. The causes and effects are for the court to decide, If you truly believe 6 women, mothers, let a stone cold killer go because of the color of the other combatants skin is simply idiotic. This is media selling you a story you ding dongs, wake up!
