Jake Gyllenhaal Exits 'Into the Woods' for 'Nightcrawler'

Jake Gyllenhaal has dropped out of the highly anticipated movie musical Into the Woods in order to focus on his upcoming project Nightcrawler, according to The Wrap.

The 32-year-old actor was in negotiations to play Rapunzel’s Prince in the fairytale film, but scheduling conflicts have forced him to take his name out of the running.

In Nightcrawler, Jake will play “a small-time Los Angeles criminal who gets a little too swept up in the nocturnal world of the city’s crime journalism community.”

He can’t act.

James Marsden to the rescue…

Sounds like he’s going to make another crime type movie. He should try to expand his roles more. I was looking forward to seeing him in something different.

# 4

Good, he would NOT be good in that at all. He either plays some weird confused guy or some cop movie.

@krista YES! James Marsden. Don’t know why he wasn’t in it to begin with. The obvious and best choice.

# 6

Not a good actor. I’m surprised he still finds work. He’s been in a few good movies but the other cast members carried the movie for the most part.

aww that sucks! I was looking forward to see him as Prince Charming type of character.

I just wanna see Nailed if it ever comes out. I love Jessica Biel. James Marsden is it that too. Oh yeah, and Jake.

Not a big lost at all.

Inaccurate. He left “Into the Woods” for “Nightcrawler” AND the lead in “Everest”, based on the 1996 tragic expedition to Mount Everest.

According to Hollywood Reporter: * “Universal in Talks for ‘Everest’ With Josh Brolin and Jake Gyllenhaal”

and Deadline: http://www.deadline.com/2013/07/everest-movie-casting-brolin-hawkes-gyllenhaal-clarke/

“Nightcrawler” shoots in October. “Everest” starts in November.

@Lynn: The lead? Another flop on the way.
