Garrett Hedlund Steps Out After 'Fifty Shades of Grey' News

Garrett Hedlund checks his cell phone while running some errands and grabbing lunch on Friday afternoon (July 26) in Los Feliz, Calif.

The 28-year-old actor reportedly has turned down the lead role of Christian Grey in the highly anticipated movie Fifty Shades of Grey, according to Us Weekly.

“Doing a possible trilogy was too big a commitment, and producers wouldn’t let him do just one film,” a source told the mag.

It was recently announced that Fifty Shades of Grey will be released on August 1, 2014 and it will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson!

Good for him turning down that tripe. I have a friend who is a fan of those books and she let me read it, I thought it was utter garbage, she also likes Twilight, I am seriously concerned about the future of our friendship. lol.

50 Shades doesn’t deserve Garrett Hedlund’s talent. They can go with Pattinson’s wooden acting instead.

Believe that most of the criticism of 50 Shades of Grey was provided by people who DID NOT read this series. They believed what others said and didn’t bother to read it themselves. Looking forward to the movie.

The first thing I thought when I heard this was ‘Good for you, Garrett”…smart man. I don’t have high hopes for this movie adaption of the book…I never saw how they could possibly film that without it being X-rated. Garrett is very talented and who can blame them for wanting someone of that acting caliber for the role. He’s sexy and handsome and no doubt would have been able to do a fantastic job of it. I’d have seen it if he were in it, but I look forward to the classier roles he’ll accept instead.

Honestly, as a woman, I detest these books, (written by a woman no less) and the gazillions of women without an ounce of self respect or self esteem who read this extremely misogynist, sexist trash that sends a terrible message to the book publishing industry, Hollywood and men, that all women are masochistic, subserviant, idoiots who enjoy being abused. Unless you’re Rhianna or have that mindset (hey Chris Brown’s an actor..he’d be perfect as Christian Grey, and Brown wouldn’t even need to act, he just loves beating up on women). This movie should not get made but I guess the Hollywood execs. would rather count their benjamins from all the lowest common denominator sheeple women that will pay to see it, instead of making intelligent respectful film fare ofr the highest common denominator of intelligent women with self respect who deplore this gutter trash. Glad Garrett Hedlund passed because I really like his talent and would have been very disappointed if he had taken such a misogynist role, and also whatever actor takes this role will never get my box office dollars.
