Kristen Bell to 'Redbook': I Refuse to Worry About My Baby Weight

Kristen Bell brightens up the cover of Redbook magazine’s September 2013 issue, on newsstands August 13.

Here’s what the 33-year-old Veronica Mars actress had to share with the mag:

On not worrying about her post-baby weight: “I refused to worry about something I could not change, and I still refuse. Look, I’m like any other woman. All this evolved b.s. that I’m telling you is my mantra: It’s not something I practice naturally. I had to surrender to not worrying about the way I looked, how much I weighed, because that’s just part of the journey of having a baby. I am not a woman whose self-worth comes from her dress size.”

On wanting a career while being a mom: “I still want a career. Lincoln will always be number one, but I think if you can cut that cord of obsessiveness, then you can work and be a good mother and wife.”

On missing Lincoln when she’s working: “I can’t look at her pictures today, because it hurts my feelings. I start wondering what she’s thinking, like Where’s the girl with the blonde hair and the boobs?”

God I love her!

I love Kristen Bell

So women who choose to stay home with their children are obsessed? Not all women put their career before their child.

@Shawna: Women who have the choice of not having to work are very lucky to have that financial freedom (Bell included). Please don’t judge others who are not so lucky.

Good for her. The American obsession with baby bumps and the resultant prerequisite ‘slammin’ post baby bod’ reports are ridiculous. A woman spends 40 weeks changing physically, chemically, and emotionally. The expectation for women to be ‘bikini ready’ a month after giving birth is just the height of ignorance.

@Shawna: What’s the problem? Are you one of those housewives with a messy house, and dirty undisciplined kids?
