Robin Thicke Addresses 'Blurred Lines' Controversy on 'Today'

Robin Thicke takes the stage for the Today show concert series on Tuesday (July 30) in New York City.

The 36-year-old singer performed his song “Blurred Lines” from his album of the same name, which is available today for purchase!

“When we made the song we had nothing but the most respect for women,” Robin said on the show about the controversy surrounding the song. “Sometimes the lyrics can get misconstrued when you’re just trying to put people on the dance floor and have a good time. But we had no idea it would stir this much controversy…. We only had the best intentions.”

Check out his performance of the song below, and click inside for his interview.

FYI: Robin is wearing an ATM by Anthony Thomas Melillo shirt.

    Dave Says:

The director of this video is a woman and she suggested naked ladies so talk to her if it’s controversial.

    Anicarama Says:

I am female and I don’t have a problem with the nudity, but WHY do the women always have to behave like stupid little girls? Hey, I’m prancing around, miaou miaou, i twist my hair and lick on a lolli. I really hate that.

    Martin Haro Says:

Oh, Jennay – just ’cause you’re just getting to the party doesn’t mean the rest of the world was in the dark, too, darling.

  13. 13
    Aviana Says:

I thought the video was boring..

  14. 14
    Albus Says:

Well the girls in the video look pretty stupid with and without clothes, like empty headed dolls just walking around flirting with the fully clothed guys.

It’s a pointless video. But i think he’s milking the controversy till there’s no tomorrow cause he seldom has big hits.

    LAShawn Says:

The song lyrics are horribly offensive to women and performances and discussions like this just go to show what a waste of time these morning shows are. You can just feel your IQ dropping anytime you watch the major networks between 7am and 11am, when the local news comes on. The song Blurred Lines going to number one proves one thing, trash always floats to the top.
