Cory Monteith's Glee Character Finn Will Be Written Off Show

Cory Monteith‘s tragic passing last month left fans of Glee wondering what would happen to his beloved character Finn when the new season begins this fall.

“The third episode will write Finn out of the show,” Fox’s Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly said during the TCA tour for the network (via ET). “That episode will deal directly with the incidents involved with Cory‘s passing and the drug abuse in particular.”

Ryan [Murphy] will shoot some PSA’s with the cast, who will speak directly to the audience,” he added.

All the proceeds from the music in that episode will go to forming a foundation in Cory‘s memory.

I think they need to have his character die from drugs. That wll send an educated message to young fans.

# 3

@Rebecca: Did you not read the article? That’s pretty much how it’s going to happen.

# 5

they gonna milk his death as long as they can… Disgusting.

“Cory Monteith’s Glee Character Finn Will Be Written Off Show”
Noooo.. Really?

# 7

I think it’s disrespectful for his family.

# 8

@laly: They aren’t milking his death. They have to handle his absence from the show some way. He can’t just disappear into the abyss. And using his death to educate teens about the risks of drug use is a good thing.

# 9

@Putain: This is where I’m at. I understand what they’re trying to do but it seems really out of place.

@laly: How is it milking his death? He can’t just disappear without it being addressed. Setting up a foundation in his honor is making sure his death wasn’t in vain, not milking it.

This is so stupid ! Cory was not Finn and Finn is not Cory. He was so different from his character. That doesn’t make any sense because Finn never had an addiction problem and all of a sudden he going to have and that’s the reason he going to die ! This is disrecpectful to the character, to Cory’s work and to his fans.

I totally agree with you!!!!! Finn was the nice guy in Glee, the one who was always kind with everybody and now what? in 2/3 episodes they will turn him into a drug-addicted?!? it don’t make any sense!!

I understand that Glee wants to teach something to teenagers, but come on,there’s something in the world call “coherence”..

They are over blowing his importance and talent…

Good riddance. No talent hack!

Come on people, they are not stupid it’s not like he’s going to become an addict in half an episode. They said they are writing him out- it doesn’t say which way he will go, and even if his character is associated with using drugs I’m sure it would be a “he just wanted to try them” thing, which happens all the time with teens and is just as dangerous. On top of that they are trying to educate people about the dangers and start a foundation. I am sure they wouldn’t have done anything to disrespect his family and I’m sure they are on board with anything that is going to happen. Stop judging before the episode even airs- no one but the writers know what is going to happen yet.

@laura: “Finn was the nice guy in Glee, the one who was always kind with everybody” Um, so was Cory. Just because you’re an addict doesn’t mean you’re a monster. No one suspected after his rehab stint that Cory was using again, because he was such a nice, kindhearted, genuine guy.

Such a beautiful boy. So sad.

“it’s disrespecting his family”
“…It’s disgusting”
WHAT THE F YOU PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT??? They already fcking informed you that his entire tribute episode will depend on what Lea Michelle and of course his family want it to be. THE EPISODE WILL NOT BE TO PLEASED UNGRATEFUL FANS LIKE YOU

@laura: That was always my issue with Glee is that they created these HUGE things out of thin air and things barely connected. I had hoped that they would have had Finn and Rachel elope and leave the show happy and in love, but somehow keep Rachel (Lea) on the show. Or, if they were gonna kill Finn off (which I don’t agree with bc Cory/Finn deserved a happier ending than that), at least make it like he went off to war and died overseas or something. This drug related thing makes absolutely no sense.
