Sarah Jessica Parker Covers 'Harper's Bazaar' September 2013

Sarah Jessica Parker sparkles in a Marc Jacobs dress on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar‘s September 2013 issue, on newsstands August 20.

Here’s what the 48-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On her marriage to Matthew Broderick: “Matthew and I come from a different time and place. When we were young people, all we ever wanted was to be good working actors. We didn’t think of fame or money because, honestly, money was never part of the dream. It was to work in theater, to be around those people whose work I was in total awe of. I never saw the trappings; nobody talked about being a celebrity. So when our marriage came up in conversation, it wouldn’t occur to us that we were obligated to respond to allegations or gossip. You have to be a bit circumspect, but you also have to take up a position, and you have to stick to it. I love Matthew Broderick. Call me crazy, but I love him. We can only be in the marriage we are. We’re very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life. I love that he’s the father of my children, and it’s because of him that there’s this whole other world that I love.”

On collaborating in the fashion world: “We’ve all worked with complicated people and I always think that I can disarm them. I love collaborating. I’m a great listener and learner, and I don’t think I know more than they do. I’m transparent.”

On her image: “I don’t think I’ve ever spent 10 minutes calculating my image. I can’t even recall a conversation.”

Ugh, her again? She so pretentious. If she loves theater so much, why hasn’t she been doing anything other than dumb SATC sequels and rom-coms? You’d think she’s been doing a lot of theater work from the way she talks.

    Jo B. Says:

@Jone – no. 1 SATC is not dumb. Never was and NEVER will be. It started a whole new way of thinking and men discovered that women can think like men. Second of all, just in case you didn’t know – Sarah Jessica Parker has been nominated for an Oscar for LA Story. Third of all, what’s wrong with romantic comedies? It’s called the ENTERTAINMENT business for a reason. And if it’s a genre you don’t like, then you don’t have to watch it. And last but most importantly – if you even bothered to look it up – SJP STARTED ON BROADWAY. I’m not sure if she was the first Annie but her role as ANNIE on BROADWAY was her first showbiz gig ever. So you can say whatever you want – but the fact remains SJP began in Broadway and IS a child of Broadway. And no she’s not pretentious at all. She is one of the most down to earth celebrity out there. If you ran into her in NYC you wouldn’t even know it was her because she doesn’t have an entire entourage tailing her just coz she’s SJP.

    @ Jone Says:

She grew up doing theater – she was Little Orphan Annie on broadway for a pretty long time (and supported her family doing it).

She’s neither here nor there for me, but she is 1000x more authentic as a theater person than the likes of Katie Holmes or Scarlett Johanssen (the latter of whom at least got positive reviews).

She is gorgeous and no one can ever deny it.

Well, it’s not like she created a role in Rent or something. Her theater work is what? Annie and……that’s about it. The ombre hair color is not working for her. It makes her face look even longer. Totally blonde is what she needs. Like in Hocus Pocus :)

Luv her, she is so amazing and an inspiration to women everywhere who love shoes. She loves ROMANCE and ALWAYS buys the BEST GIFTS FOR WOMEN at AthenaToysDotcom <——

@Jone – she’s a 1000% more authentic as a theater person? Are you a theater snob? Because honestly while an actor may have a preference of venue for acting- most of them – as long as they are working actors don’t really care much. As long they can act and if they’re so lucky, have their choice of roles – like Sarah Jessica does, then they consider themselves blessed. You say she’s neither here nor there for you – but for someone so indifferent you sure put a lot of negative feelings out there for her.
