She looks great. Props to her for keeping her weight. No jojo effect.

They finally released this movie; 3 years after it was completed and 2 years after it was at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Just going off the trailer, she sounds like Jennifer Hudson, the American instead of Winnie. They couldn’t get her a dialect coach or push her to try harder with the accent?

Mandela played by an alleged woman beater, how great !

Don’t get it. Why don’t they use South African actors and actresses? It’s a story based in South Africa. I mean, i didn’t like when they used Tom Cruise in Operation Walküre / Valkyrie as Graf Stauffenberg. For me it has something to do with respect …

But how about they make a critical movie about the americans dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki… as long they use critical subjects about the history of other countries, they could also start with their own.

@Bella: They did get a lot of grief from South Africa over that. That being said, it’s hard for a Hollywood production to adequately screen and audition South African actors/actresses. Plus they filmed this 3 years ago and were probably trying to capitalize on Hudson’s Oscar win.

  • Kathy

Because the audience is American. That’s the people who will buy the tickets and they (we) want to see American stars for the most part. I’m really looking forward to this movie and I think Howard and Hudson will be great.
