Usher Wins Custody Battle, Hugs Tameka Foster After Trial

Usher has won the custody battle for his children against his ex Tameka Foster which took place on Friday (August 9) in Atlanta, Ga.

The 34-year-old entertainer will continue to have custody of Usher V, 5, and Naviyd, 4, after URV‘s pool accident earlier in the week.

After the hearing ended, Usher hugged Tameka in the courtroom.

“This is the straw that broke the camel’s back,” a source told People about the incident. “She could have had the boys [Monday], and they would have been fine. She knows that accidents happen with kids, but she should have been with them.”

that was a quick decision, doesnt exactly make her look like the greatest mother if the man wins the trial, good on him for hugging her after court though hope they learn to get along.

This guy makes me sick posing for the paps, now he can go back to spoiling his kids with material things and calling it parenting while he plays with his toys.

i dunno. their family and sh*t. but it looks like “who’s got the money decision”? i’d not judge that. not the celebrity way.

He has won several times in court, so I’m guessing that there is evidence that she should not have custody.

I don’t buy that he’s getting custody because he’s famous. Tons of famous people with money don’t get full custody.

As a mother and grandmother, I don’t understand why anyone would allow a five-year old child alone in a swimming pool. I always made sure that I was in the pool with them and usually had safety swimming gear along with it. I regret allowing my Ex to have as much exposure to my children when they were young, rich or not. As adults, my children now are telling me stories that give me chills. I feel guilty that I didn’t know at the time…but there you go…their father didn’t want me to know. I admire Usher for his talent, but, from my experience, I pray that their children survive all of this.

What could she have possibly done to lose custody? He’s off working and leaving the kids with a sitter when their mother should have them since she can be there for the kids.

    hmmm Says:

yeah from what I understand her losing custody in Atlanta, Ga is not uncustomary. Men are awarded custody there than the mothers. Thats from doing some background research..so maybe they are still behind in the times since each state is different. I am sure that who ever is in power makes the rules and probably more men are in power and skew the legislation. She’s no crazier than many women across the country and only if you murder (and what exactly has she done that has been lethal to anyone) someone will all your rights be taken away. I suspect behind the scenes Usher clearly has influence ($$$) and in custody cases that is possible.

Who takes kids away from the mother? forgive him for the sake of those kids. One day they will grow up just have the streng to do the best you can in the mean time. Hopefully user geta his priority strait. Hope God protects those kids.

    @Annette:
I don’t think Usher’s sister came across as too bright or competent to be with the kids. It is lucky that the men were there to save him.

I think ppl need to stop condeming the woman who was watching the kids. u cannot supervise 24/7 and she tried to save him. thank God the workmen were there and that CPR is now pretty much standard. I hope that if I were confronted with a situation like that I would not panic and know how to save the child. I hope Usher and his ex can forgive each other and work together. At least he has made a concilliatory gesture toward that goal.

    M Says:

@Tenisha: It’s hard to say that when you’re not with him 24/7. So you don’t know what he does and doesn’t do.

    Anita Says:

@Annette: Amazing how people interpret things they know nothing about. Who said they were in the pool alone. Someone would have had to been very close to know the child was in the water and in trouble. It wouldn’t make any difference if the person were in the water or not if he got his arm hung up in the drain. It would have happened anyway. I think the aunt deserves a thank you from mom and dad for being there so promptly and taking action and also the two men who freed the child. Stop placing blame on people. The drain needed a cover and it would have never happened. I’m sure that is taken care of now, but to blame the aunt for not being there or being negligent is just pure stupidity. It was an accident. Hopefully everyone will cover those drains now.
