Matt Damon: 'Elysium' Tops Friday Box Office with $11.2 Million!

Matt Damon heads into LAX Airport to catch a departing flight out of town on Friday evening (August 9) in Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old actor’s new film Elysium was released in theaters this weekend and it topped the Friday box office with an estimated $11.2 million, according to THR.

Elysium is set to take the number one spot for the full weekend with a predicted $30 million, beating out other new flicks like We’re The Millers, Planes, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

    I saw it at my local IMAX yesterday. It’s terrific, really a suspenseful thrill ride, and Matt is simply great in it. One of my favorite roles of his ever.
