    Jack S. Says:

    From the Hollywood Reporter:

    New Line’s We’re the Millers was arguably the big winner among the new offerings. Opening midweek, the R-rated comedy grossed $26.6 million for the three-day weekend to come in No. 2, and a hearty $38 million for the Wednesday-Sunday stretch.

    Jack S. Says:

    Not too bad considering the budget for We’re the Millers was 37 Million dollars. Another big hit for Jennifer Aniston who has top billing on this film.

    @Jack S.:

    The movie opened on Tuesday.. so it is a 5 day total. Why do people not acknowledge that. So Jennifer has a film that didn’t bomb..Good for her. Bad for the rest of the world.

    Percy Jackson was a fun film. took my kids and they really loved it. Elysium looks very Meh. But may check it out next week.

    @Jack S.: The 38 part is an estimate. Box office mojo said the actual result will be up monday afternoon. Don’t celebrate just yet!

    @Rosemary:

    Read my post again:

    “and a hearty $38 million for the Wednesday-Sunday stretch.” That’s 5 days in case you can’t count.

    JustinWantsaBlackWoman Says:

    @Jack S.: Uhm, again, it’s an estimate. Just like the expected 40 million was an estimate, then it reduced to 35, now back to an estimate of 38. Wait until monday… Speaking too soon suits you Jen hens

    coso Says:

    @Rosemary: No six day total .

    @Justin wants …

    You’re not the brightest person are you, the numbers quoted are not estimations ,the numbers are actual ticket sales, and wouldn’t change by Monday. By Sunday the numbers for a weekend box office are always known and wouldn’t change except by a few hundred thousand.

    Rosemary Says:

    @Jack S.:

    The movie had a couple of showing on Tuesday.. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday..

    I even lumped in Tuesday’ 2700 screens with Wednesday
    .Now who is it that can’t count.

    The movie is doing well. but it opened way ahead of the competition.. so slant it all you want.

    @coso:
    I was being generous. But again some people don’t get it when they are WRONG

    sophie Says:

    what ! just 26,5 millions (3 days) after all the PR : baby talk, wedding talk; justin talk …..ouah it’s bad and not her best opening
    in 3 days melissa top the box office with 41 millions
    melissa rocks ! she’s the winner……

    Jack S. Says:

    @coso:

    The Tuesday showing was only a midnight show not a full fledged release so it cannot be counted as a full day’s release. The midnight show grossed 1.7 Million dollars.

    Jack S. Says:

    Boxofficemojo.com doesn’t even show a gross for the Tuesday showing.

    Big F***** Deal Says:

    @Jack S.:

    “The Heat” opened at #2 with $39 million with a budget of $43 million. It actually had some competition because it opened in the middle of the movie season, and held its own during the July 4th openings, too. Also, it wasn’t nearly as overhyped as this sh**fest of stupidity.

  16. 16
    Rosemary Says:

    @Ava:

    That is not true which is why if you to go BOM.. it says. Estimates. and sometimes the numbers do change.. heck most of the time they do. YOU are obviously not the brightest one if you don’t know that.

    Rosemary Says:

    @Jack S.:

    because DUH..they added it into Wednesday.. If you want to play these games please come with a bit more knowledge.

    Rosemary Says:

    @Jack S.:

    you really know squat.. the movie opened at 7 or 8 pm. now how is that a midnight showing.

    sophie Says:

    A hit is 100 millions, not 38 millions !

    6 day WTM Total Says:

    @coso:

    Yes a 6 day total, opened Tuesday night with multiple showings beginning at 8:PM to midnight, which total was added to Wednesday’s numbers and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Actually OW numbers will be known Monday afternoon.

    Film did well as it was cheaply made because it was cast with actors paid on the low end of the scale (as if anyone making at least $1mil is lowly paid LOL but that is low nominal pay by HTown film standards) and filmed in a cheap location.

    Studios are increasingly releasing films on Wednesday (actually Tuesday night) to pad grosses for OW for investors and public perception. Money drives everything.

    Don’t know if WTM will do well OS outside the UK or perhaps Australia as this cast is not well known or popular and most USA comedies do not translate well. Time will tell as the cast will be OS next week trying to sell WTM.

  21. 21
    JustinWantsaBlackWoman Says:

    @Ava: Try again, hen. It says estimate at the top of the numbers.

  22. 22
    6 day WTM Total Says:

    @Jack S.:

    Please try to do some research, WTM showings began at 8:PM and continued until midnight on Tuesday, those numbers were folded into Wednesday’s total, that information was detailed on every film site. And yes the actual numbers for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday WTM are known, but not the Friday, Saturday or Sunday numbers which are estimates until tomorrow.

    Though most films still only have midnight shows before their opening date, WTM began early evening Tuesday in a high count of theatres (2700 so actually wide). Unusual but studio wanted to get an early WTM gross and WOM out front for PR value before other films opened.

    Facts are facts.

    JustinWantsaBlackWoman Says:

    If it was already at 38, it would be #1… Idiots.

  24. 24
    Jack S. Says:

    Well even the Hollywood Reporter called it a 5 day gross……Wednesday thru Sunday. Sorry, I was just quoting the business magazine. That’s where I got my info for my post.

    JustinWantsaBlackWoman Says:

    @Jack S.: Box office mojo is the most reliable. Sunday numbers wouldn’t even be out as it’s only noon. Monday should post the final numbers
