Jennifer Lawrence Covers 'Vogue' September 2013

Jennifer Lawrence looks beautiful on the cover of Vogue‘s coveted September 2013 issue, on newsstands August 20.

Here is what the 22-year-old Hunger Games: Catching Fire actress had to share with the mag:

On choosing to do the Hunger Games films: “When Winter’s Bone was getting nominated. I had only done indies, and suddenly I was introduced to this brand-new world where I didn’t feel like myself. I was in these weird gowns and listening to people talk about things I didn’t understand. And I remember reading that in the book and being like, Oh, my God, I know exactly what this feels like. I don’t know what it’s like to get ready for your death, but I do know what it’s like to be almost a puppet. And then when I was making the second film, I had become more acquainted with that world, and I think that’s something that Katniss experiences. She is different when she comes back. She does feel more comfortable in the Capitol; she understands the people more, and it’s not as eerie and scary and unfamiliar. She kind of knows how to work the system.”

On the paparazzi: “If I were just your average 23-year-old girl and I called the police to say that there were strange men sleeping on my lawn and following me to Starbucks, they would leap into action. But because I am a famous person, well, sorry, ma’am, there’s nothing we can do. It makes no sense… I am just not OK with it. It’s as simple as that. I am just a normal girl and a human being, and I haven’t been in this long enough to feel like this is my new normal. I’m not going to find peace with it.”

On deciding to be an actress: “I know it sounds so stupid, but it was kind of like I finally found something people were telling me I was good at, which I had never heard, ever. And that was a big reason why my parents let me do this. One time, my mom was on the phone with my dad, saying, ‘We’re paying for therapy and all this medication, and we don’t need it when she’s here. She’s happy.’ ”

  • ace11

She’s venting because she is frustrated

She wants Cooper and he doesn’t want back

  • alaia

    She sounds quite whiny.

  • seriously!

@useless: Sorry, but i didn’t get your comment … Perhaps i’m just slow …. but i fail to see the meaning in this comment . I suppose non- famous folks always think the paparazzi are important in an actor’s career but … i hate to tell you . NO . They have zero to do on how successful any actor become for them it’s all about …MONEY ..Until you experience it i don’t see the point of comments like this one . !http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yioDATxmijM

Okay, not to be unreasonable, because I think Jennifer Lawrence is the best, most enviable person in Hollywood and I’m a big fan, but that average 23-year-old girl you spoke of doesn’t make $15 million per year. Every job that pays $8 per hour comes with its own sacrifices; this is yours.

  • Lou

Stunning young actress. Hope her career goes even bigger. Beautiful!

  • Agree with Greg

Oh boy, it’s begun….the classic celebrity “I hate the paparazzi” whine, which I cannot stand. Note To Jennifer Lawrence: Please don’t go don’t this road. You have a life many envy and very few people will ever achieve. Be grateful for everything you’ve been given and understand that intrusive press comes with the package. It’s part of the deal. It’s a trade-off. If you’re not okay with it, then get out of the business. But don’t expect sympathy and for goodness sake don’t complain!

  • kara85

    @Agree with Greg:

I don’t know, I don’t think just because you are a celebrity who earns millions, you are not allowed to complain,I personally prefer somebody who speaks their mind than refrain themselves so as not to offend people, at least what you see is what you get and you can take it or leave it.
and i think complaining is part of human nature tbh, you will get that with rich, middle class or poor people, even though rich people have many privileges, it does not stop them from being human, being in a bad mood or being unhappy at times, it’s just normal i guess, i don’t expect celebrities to be any different.JMO.

  • Agree with Greg

@kara85 – I personally believe that it’s completely useless for her to complain about something that she cannot control. It’s wasted energy and it gets old hearing this from celebities because it makes them sound ungrateful. Jennifer Lawrence may be human, but she’s not like you or me. She can’t live her life like a normal person. That’s just a harsh reality of the life she chose. Her life is completely different from what it was just a few years ago. And the sooner she realizes it, stops complaining about it and adjusts her life accordingly, the better off she’ll be. Just my opinion.

  • Karako

She kind of seems stupid, like “she needs to go to school” stupid. Good actress though so I guess that’s all that matters.

  • LOL

complain and complain zzzzzzzzzzzzzz if you don’t like paparazzi go away zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz she is boring and ugly as hell!

  • Fercat

She’s kinda ditzy really. I guess people like that.

    Good actress.

  • Kelly

Oy. I was convinced I would be rich/famous too. You just happen to get the lucky lottery ticket. please spare me…

  • Lucy

    still don’t like her

  • WTH?

    I don’t get it.
Her job is not “celebrity”. It’s “ACTRESS”. She loves acting. And obviously understands the need to promote her work. But doing press, is completely different to intrusive paparazzi “press”.
So what… she should quit her favorite job, because a bunch of people
invade her privacy (illegally many times) just to sell a photograph?
Or should we (and she) be OK with that, just because she earns more money than we do?
Her job description says “press”. Not “paparazzi”. So she has every right to complain about something that does her job and her life more difficult.

  • Wire

I like her but with so many movies coming out she’s on the verge of being serisouly overexposed. You can’t have it both ways. These interviews must be inane for them to do day after day, year after year.

  • Reality Bites

    @Agree with Greg:

She should just accept the fact that for the rest of her career grown men in packs will stalk her, yell obscenities at her and her friends and family every time she leaves the house while snapping pictures to capture a response, follow her to private homes, doctors offices, try to crash her wedding, her maternity ward when she gives birth, her future children s’ school (still yelling obscenities hoping to make her mad), jump out from behind bushes at night and rush at her with something in their hands and she just has to hope and pray it is a camera and not a crazy person with a weapon.. for the rest of her career. All because she wanted to act. Not be a celebrity.. she isn’t hanging at clubs or fancy hot spots.. just acting. You are right. She is asking for this treatment and should just get used to it. (eye roll).

  • Macbeth

She was just asked about the paparazzi and noted the absurdity and creepiness of it all, #14.

  • Janire

    She’s amazing!

  • J-LAW

    You’re soooooooo annoooooooooyyinnng! Shut up!

  • Agree with Greg

@ Reality Bites – Yes!! That’s the unfortunate payoff to the life she chose!! This isn’t a surprise or some new reality for anyone in her or anyone in her station in life. She knew this going in. This has happened to generations of actors and actresses before her and it will continue long after her. Get over yourself!
    .
You so conveniently highlighted all the negative aspects in your post, so I’ll juxtapose those with the positives to show the balance: she will never have to work a day in her life ever again, nor will her family if they choose not to. She has the ability to create her own path in life, travel to anywhere in the world she wants to go. She can live anywhere in the world she wants to live. She can lead philanthropic causes and do much go in the world if she chooses. She will never have to want for anything.
    .
    Now….That’s the trade-off.

  • Agree with Greg

correction: “do much good in the world….”

  • gulbis

didn’t she said year ago that she hates when actors complain. now she’s one of them.

  • TC

OMG! She totally did say that she hates it when actors complain in her interview for Glamour Magaazine, March 2012. Good memory gulbis!

  • Ignorant celebrity…

Katniss ”grew comfortable with the Capitol”? She always hated the Capitol and everything it stood for even after the Games. Someone CLEARLY knows the book all too well…. Anyways, I do think Jennifer is a pretty girl but she’s off-putting a lot of the time for the stupid comments she makes.. Sure, she’s funny, but it just reflects her ignorance a lot of the time. Especially when it’s obvious she’s trying TOO hard to be likeable and different. Say: All of her stupid comments about ”how hungry she is.” She’s become overrated quite fast. I do wish her all the best though.

  • Just My Opinion

“On the paparazzi: “If I were just your average 23-year-old girl and I called the police to say that there were strange men sleeping on my lawn and following me to Starbucks, they would leap into action.”
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Here’s the fatal flaw to this line of thinking – Jennifer Lawrence is not your average 23-year-old. Therefore, standard rules don’t apply here. Whether she likes it or not, she’s a commodity. She’s a product that sells. Therefore, paparazzi will be a constant presence in her life because they can make money off of her image. “Agree with Greg” is right, the sooner she understands this, the better off she’ll be.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I hope the whining about the press doesn’t become a running theme with her because I like her, but the whining is not a good look. And it’s hard for me to sympathize with someone who’s complaining about paparazzi when real people are struggling to find jobs, put food on the table for their families and to make ends meet.

  • Kelly

And she came of age when paps, the internet and celebrity sites existed so t unlike movie stars maybe 10years and older..
