Angelina Jolie Releases Statement in Defense of Syrian Children

Angelina Jolie has released a statement about the children of Syria and the horrific conditions they are subject to in order to raise awareness in the international community.

“What is happening to the children of Syria is sickening,” the 38-year-old actress and UNHCR Special Envoy said in a statement (via E! News). “Thousands of innocent young boys and girls have lost their lives in horrific circumstances, including in recent attacks near Damascus. And now one million Syrian children are struggling to survive as refugees in heart-breaking conditions.”

“Each one of these child refugees is an innocent victim of a senseless conflict. These vulnerable children need shelter, food and assistance. But above all, they need security,” Angelina added.

Angelina then urged, “The international community must not look away from Syria, they must renew the search for peace with urgency and determination.”

    I was surfing the news at Yahoo yesterday and saw a story about a little Syrian boy of about 8 whose family had fled to the Bekka Valley in Lebanon. Their family had a little bit of money and the boy bought a watermelon at a fruit stand – for his little sister. He said he couldn’t wait to see her face when he gave it to her. That’s the kind of thing we take for granted. To the haters – Yes, there are people in this country who can’t afford food – but nobody’s making them run for their lives while lobbing mortar at them either.

    @Passing Through:

    Haters rant on Angie why she doesn’t help the people/children in America. What these haters don’t understand is that most homeless people/children in America still have a shelter and a decent 3 meals. Unlike these war torn countries. These people are lucky to have just 1 meal a day. If they are really lucky, they’ll get some water and if they are really really lucky they’ll get some clean water. These haters don’t know shizzz about these refugees and I am sure they don’t give a fcuk about them. These refugees are in conditions that are 100 times worse than people (no offense to them) who went to Katrina hurricane. They just talk shizzz because Angie is supporting these poor displaced people. I would love to see these pathetic haters (that will never happened) go to these war torn countries and then come back with the same hate judgement on Angie. At least Angie is not at a resort in Mehhhhhicooooo getting sun tan and pimping her Midget and her dumb water.

    Suri the meal ticket Says:

    Good for her. However. I am in line with The Joint Chiefs chairman, Gen. Martin Dempsey. The rebel doesn’t support the US interests, may push Syria further back into the Medieval time. I feel sorry for whoever killed and displaced by the nerve gas attacked, but US shouldn’t get involved.

    Fakelina pretending she cares about those kids to have some publicity, that’s new! ¬¬

    You really need to get a hobby. Seriously, dude. You are like a man on a mission but a mission to see how much attention he can get by seeing how far he can push a finger up his butt.
    What is the point?
    You can ignore me of course but I see you make the same comments over and over, year after year and it makes you seem lost. I have a feeling you have a lot issues about being ignored and perhaps rationalize your off-putting comments by convincing yourself it is because of your “edgy” personality. But if that is true you would be deluding your self because let’s face it, trying to engage people and still being ignored…..well, that can be deflating and very depressing.
    Seriously, dude, I am not trying to be mean. It is just that you come off like a rude guy, lashing out at strangers in an OCD way.
    You can continue what you are doing of course but you have to know by now the effect of your comments is akin to one-hand clapping or white noise and to continue expending your energies on something so pointless is actually unhealthy.
    Peace, dude.

    I would rather she pretends for a real cause than sitting behind a computer doing no shizzzzz like you.
