'One Direction: This Is Us' Tops Weekend Box Office!

One Direction‘s new documentary/concert film 1D: This Is Us has won the weekend box office with $17 million!

While it easily won the weekend tallies, it is still unclear if it will be able to beat Lee Daniels’ The Butler for the four-day Labor Day weekend. The film grossed $14.7 million in its third weekend of release, according to THR.

Jennifer Aniston‘s We’re The Millers had another great weekend, coming in third with $12.6 million and now it has become her sixth film to cross the $100 million milestone. Huge congrats!

Rounding out the top five were Disney’s Planes with $7.7 million and the Spanish language film Instructions Not Included with a strong $7.5 million.

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez and Ethan Hawke‘s new flick Getaway failed to drum up much business and only made $4.5 million, coming in ninth place for the weekend.

WHAT DID YOU SEE at the movies this weekend???

Congrats to Jennifer. Women can bring in a lot of money at the box office and not just with an action film! Good for her.

Awesome! JEN! Congrats. Also, to the rest of the cast too! AWESOME!

The Butler comes in a respectable 2nd place after being on top for two weeks. Well done.

“The Getaway” opened at NO. 9?! This proves despite Selena’s teen fan base and her ties to Justin Bieber she can’t open a movie with a more serious theme. Kid fare like “Monte Carlo” and frat-party-level antics like “Spring Breakers” did well because they appealed to her primary demographic. Selena has a LOOONG way to go to improve her acting skills if she wants a serious career. She’s certainly no threat to Jennifer Lawrence and the Emmas, Stone and Watson.
