'The Butler' Tops 'One Direction' at Labor Day Box Office

The rankings have changed for the four-day Labor Day holiday weekend and now Lee Daniels’ The Butler has become victorious for the third weekend in a row.

The historical film starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey has grossed $20 million for the holiday frame, topping One Direction: This is Us, which had won the three-day weekend. 1D pulled in $18 million over the full holiday, according to Deadline.

Coming in third place was Jennifer Aniston‘s We’re The Millers with $16.3 million, bringing it’s total cume to a fantastic $113.3 million.

Rounding out the top five were Disney’s Planes with $10.5 million and the surprise hit Instructions Not Included with $10.3 million.

Selena Gomez‘s Getaway drops down to number 10 with just $5.5 million for the four-day weekend.

    @catnip: yup. she seems to have the mentality that shes the sh*t but not only was she outdone by 1D but the critics and audience didnt see the movie as good and the acting was poor.

    I went to see The Mortal Instruments City of Bones, you should go and watch, it so good the movie, you have everything, action, love, drama, funny moments, all in one!

    City of bones, the best choice to watch :)

    Congrats to Jennifer Aniston on her 6th 100 Million dollar+ domestic film! This brings the World Wide total for We’re The Millers to over 153 Million dollars thus with a budget of only 37 Million dollars!!!

    Sorry dude. Jennifer has first billing. But to be fair they both are leads. And that doesn’t negate the fact that this IS Jennifer’s 6th 100+ Million dollar domestic gross as a lead female.

    Good job The Butler! Totally deserve the success! I thought those idiot teenagers would take over the box office this weekend but looks like some people still have good taste. It’s nice to see. Now on to the Oscars Butler!
