'True Blood' Set to End Run in 2014

HBO’s hit vampire show True Blood will be ending it’s lengthy successful run after the upcoming season in 2014.

The seventh season will be its last, the network announced earlier today (September 3).

True Blood debuted its first season back in 2008. The show stars Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten, Joe Manganiello, and many more.

True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO,” HBO’s president of programming Michael Lombardo said. “Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.”

In case you missed it, check out Alexander posing nude for the last episode last season.

ARE YOU SAD to see True Blood off the air after its 7th season in 2014???

  • BeautyBarbie

  • thaskins1

I am totally bummed. whatever shall I do without my Viking Vampire on Sunday nights.

  • Strange

No more Eric ! Not happy at all . I only watched for the Viking.

  • Shifter

toward the end was only watching for Sam…sorry “Bucky” but Mayor Silverfox just doesn’t cut it for me

  • Arrow 12

Hopefully they make the season a little longer. Also the last episode should be two hours long instead of one hour.

  • hmmmmmmm

I kinda had the feeling this would be the last season. Oh well, I hope it goes out on a high note. One more year of my Sookie , Bill and Eric.

  • rafa

Well it was about time..The last 2 seasons were a total disappointment..It really lost its identity

  • mbl

    ohhh my heart is breakingg

  • Danielle

While the past few seasons were up and down in quality, I’ll really miss this series. I love the characters and when the writers/actors etc got it right it was among the best of television. So I’m very very sad.

  • trash.

it doesnt follow the books otherwise it could go longer, but its run its course. Read the final book though.

  • Heather

    Sad but not shock

  • kat

It needs to be over. The cast doesn’t even look like they want to be there anymore!

  • ladybug

bringing up from previous AS thread:

    “Macy @ 09/03/2013 at 4:44 pm

You know what? I hope they don’t fit Eric and Pam into that mess. Sookie and Bill don’t deserve to hang out with cool people. Let him and Alcide duke it out over that annoying harpie. Maybe Eric and Pam will decide to live their days out at the “windy sh*thole farm” LOL”

At this point I’m fine with that. Or have Eric, Pam, Tara, Willa and Lafayette (even though he’s not ‘related’ to Eric) and leave Bon Temps to its whatever it is in the minds of the writers.

a part of me just died

  • whatwhat

I will miss the show but this past season sucked, I am not surprised that the show is ending.

  • Lily

At least…..well hopefully……. we’ll get an ending. I’m sick of shows being cancelled without actually finishing up story lines. This is the way to do it, decide it’s the last season and then write and film it that way. HBO- Thank you.

  • mforman

A small part of me died after reading this. I know this might sound dramatic, but I watch very little tv and this and Vikings were the only two shows I watched.
Honestly, I can only hope they will listen to what the fans have been saying and wanting all along and we know what that is. Eric and Sookie should finally get together and leave not only Bon Temps behind them but also Bill finally.
Also, I agree it should be a 13 episode season, with a 2 hour finale, anything less will rob the fans of what we deserve.
Sorry but True Blood leaving HBO, is going to leave a huge, huge hole in the network and I don’t think they are going to find it so easy to fill it, no matter how they try.

  • ladybug

@mforman: Per the EW article, it’ll be 10 episodes. Which doesn’t mean that couldn’t change and/or they do a two hour series finale.
They can tie everything together in 10 episodes, question is how well will the writers do that? At least do better than Charlaine Harris did in ending the book series.

  • Alex is a Joke

I am soo glad. Finally, its over. He is over. G.P. was right, he truly was the flavor of the month. Tarzan?! My A-hole. He couldn’t get 50 Shades. The only thing that Alex would more likely miss the most is making fools out of his own fans. Alex is a JOKE!

  • Oscar

It was bound to happen, creatively the show run out of vision, like a car that runs out of gas..the last two seasons were a joke…maybe the actors were getting better pay checks than the writers…

  • sylvia

Well, it was getting worse every new season.

  • susan saunders

    I will miss True Blood.

  • Oscar

I will miss tb too!! :( there’s should have been a good love story written in there for Eric….but Hollywood doesn’t like love stories…only sci fi and big guns…

  • Lisa

What a bummer. Its the only show I watch on HBO so I guess I can save some money and cancel my subscription, I really wish the haters would have stopped complaining and moved on quietly, so the rest of us could enjoy it……

  • Canuck

Guess they realized that without Alex, the show wouldn’t survive. Also guess that he was only willing to sign for one more season. I hope the rest of the cast has bigger and better things lined up for after as Skarsgard certainly does, or at least now have the time to do so.

  • ladybug

If this is true this could be very interesting:

“Prince Harry will fight a cold-blooded foe in a race to the South Pole
    True Blood vampire Alexander Skarsgård.

The royal Army captain takes on the Swede actor in the Walking With the Wounded Allied Challenge, which sees our serviceman compete with US troops and an Australian-Canadian team.

Skarsgard, 37, stars in the award-winning series True Blood. He was training with the US and Commonwealth teams for a challenge in Colorado, US — the preparation for November’s gruelling 208-mile trek…”

  • Canuck

@ladybug: That would be awesome. Good for him and also good for Prince Harry!

  • sookiefan

It became so unbearable we only watched the first 2 episodes this season.
Anti-Southern, anti-Christian, anti-guns, anti-conservative…on and on with the political agendas. Just like hollywood producers don’t ‘get’ we want to watch movies for escapism, not to have someone else’s political agendas pushed in our faces. We can turn on the news for that!
I love Urban Fantasy stories, but not filth. Unnecessary (as in every other word) profanity is a total turn-off. It’s like: “we have to get 70 F-words and 80 G’ds in each scene.”
So producers and directors continue to churn out movies and series that tank, because they’d rather keep making the same old ‘statements” over and over. Look where their intolerance of others and other’s beliefs are getting them.

  • Cafélady

@ladybug: #28 He will what?! LoL First I thought, this is surely a joke. But may be also not… Interesting. LoL In case it’s true; I wonder who had this idea first – he or Harry? ;) LoL
And when will this be? Could this mean, that he has no other projects for the moment – or for the time when this race starts, whenever this will be? I thought he would begin with work on a new movie in the upcoming time?
    Anyway – sounds interesting and funny… :)

  • Cafélady

@ladybug: Oj – now I have the picture. I have read your post in the previous post (but after I’ve wrote already my comment above) and could see – it’s obviously a charity thing. Well, that sounds way more serious than this headline of this “sun”-article. Typical yellow press style this – I would say.
But should this be true, then this would be really cool. Obviously at least he thinks about it and his possible participation – and that’s nice.

Finally Alex can get lost off our screen and pi&& off back to Stockholm, unworthy crap import
WELLdone Kate on marrying MPOLISH what a good looking and talented man

  • Robert Evans

As an extra worked on last two episodes. Fun show to work on and to see the characters up close.

  • everythig ends

Good riddance! Only the first season was good and intriguing. Second and third ones were just meh and 4-6 just horrible, cheesy crapppfest. HBO should give their money for more worthy shows like Game of Thrones.

  • Levi Johnson

Well, that’s a relief. A truly idiotic show for a truly idiotic audience.

  • Levi Johnson

What F-word are you referring to?

  • estevev

This is excellent, long awaited news! I thought this show would never end.
