Mark Wahlberg Graduates High School at 42!

Mark Wahlberg has received his high school diploma after taking online classes for a year!

“I was fortunate to find out I could attend high school online. For almost a year, I’ve been taking classes and studying any chance I could get – on the set, traveling for work and at home,” the 42-year-old actor told Huffington Post. “It has been both humbling and challenging, but I’m happy to report that I am officially a high school graduate, having received my diploma this summer.”

Mark recently told People, “I would love to go to USC and study film. I don’t want to become a veterinarian or anything, [I want to study] things that further my career and broaden my horizon.”

FYI: Mark dropped out of high school when he was in ninth grade.

Congratulations. Good for him. It’s never too late to further your education. But how does one drop out of something they were never in? He never attended high school. Therefore he never dropped out of it.

Are you special needs? It says 9th grade. At many schools in the US (including mine), high school is 9th-12th.

Good for him! It sounds so silly at first but if I were in his shoes – rich, employed, why would I want to go back to that time in my life and finish up with high school curriculum? It’s not like college where you can chose you classes. I applaud this guy. CONGRATS MARK! THis is wonderful. I’m very happy for you :)

@Ava: He probably wants to set a good example to his 4 kids. He removed his tattoos first, now he finished HS. He only needs to go to college and he’ll be done.

there should be an asterisk next to his name *online* on the diploma bc online is not the same as actually waking up every day for 4 years and physically going to class to endure the egos of high school teachers. dealing with the bullies, the school lunches, the fire drills, and walking home alone after a bad day . online is typical of this instant gratification society !
