Sara Bareilles Covers 'Zooey' Magazine Fall Issue (Exclusive)

Sara Bareilles graces the cover of Zooey magazine‘s Fall issue, which was provided exclusively for a premiere on JustJared.com!

Here is what the 33-year-old “Brave” singer had to share with the mag:

On her tendency to curse a lot: “Maybe I’m rebelling! I don’t know if there is a relation there. Maybe I’m subconsciously rebelling… It’s a part of my personality. My parents have gotten over it; my grandparents have gotten over it. I just swear. I don’t mean any offense by it. It’s just the way I talk.”

On moving to the Big Apple: “I used to swear that I would never live in New York because it was too much. But, you know, you always change and grow, and I’m just in a new chapter in my life. I know, right now, New York is where I need to be. It’s just speaking to me on a fundamental level right now. The electricity, the energy in the air… it’s really inspiring. There is so much art, so much creativity. There’s so much bravery there. That’s what I’m seeking right now in my life. I just needed to see myself out of context and introduce myself in a different space.”

On writing a book: “I’m looking at it as a collection of short essays, like ‘Bossypants’ (by Tina Fey), kind of. I don’t know how to not infuse the humor. That book was a great template. I’m taking moments; some will be a little more serious since I’m telling stories about my life. In my perfect world, it would be delivered by the end of this year. So I’ll aim for that.”

    Not Tom Says:

    Sara is a musician. It’s a shame that people have to pigeonhole artists as mundanely generic and not. I like her just the way she is.

    Glad to see Sara start to get some more Pub. She and her music are vastly underrated. She is real and authentic and not all glitz and smoke. She is also an incredible human being. And she flat out has the best voice in music today! Listen to her music, you’ll get hooked.

    @Tom:

    Overrated my ass, she’s underrated. Do you not know what talent is? She’s stunning, her voice is amazing, it sparkles with talent when she sings, she’s a song writer by heart and soul, not a team of 6, she does everything herself, she’s one of the most hardworking musicians out there, left. She doesn’t sell herself out like other artists, she wears what she likes, she’s amazing. Your so blind and deaf if you cannot see her talented, get off the comments please.

    Sara reminds me of Kate Middleton, know known as Catherine, she looks a bit like her. She’s very mature, respectful, talented, pretty. She’s like a duchess in the music world, you fool.
