Ruth Wilson: 'Flaunt' Magazine Feature

Ruth Wilson shows a little shoulder inside the “The Dye Issue” of Flaunt magazine.

Here’s what the 31-year-old English actress had to share with the mag:

On once playing Jane Eyre: “What I love about the West and the history of the West – and people don’t make Westerns much anymore because there’s the idea that they don’t work – is that [they show] the start of modern America. It’s when the attitudes developed. I’m really proud of it, because it’s nice to be a part of something that has a moral journey and a moral code. It’s actually something that did happen in the history of America, and it’s important not to forget. Of course, it’s a Disney movie with the sort of stock characters: the baddie, the goodie, the girl. But it’s also in this really interesting period of history.”

On what she’d be doing if not acting: “The other day I thought I’d quite like to be an archeologist. I don’t know why…scrabbling around in dust all day. I don’t even like the heat, so I don’t even know what I’m going on about, but did you read about how they found the skeleton of Richard III under a car park in Birmingham? I thought, ‘How amazing to find that skeleton with his spine going like this.’”

On how she got the role in the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks: “I was in the Four Seasons in L.A., and I was in the lift, and this girl was in the lift with me, and she started talking to me and said, ‘I love you in Luther,’” she was English – and I was like, ‘What do you do?’ And she goes, ‘I’m a writer.’ I said, ‘Alright, I’m getting a drink down at the bar if you want to join me.’ So we had a few drinks, and she’s like, ‘You know, you’d be brilliant in this script I’ve got.’ And it was Saving Mr. Banks.”
