Ellen recently was quoted as saying the 2013 Emmy Awards felt dated, and that the lack of diversity felt embarrassing. However, Ellen told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that those quotes were originally supposed to be off the record.

Although the quotes were off the record, she is standing by what she said, and her team is looking into what happened.

    Honestly, I’m glad she’s standing by what she says. I think it’s a great thing. Most actresses in her position probably don’t even think about issues such as diversity. They’re too busy basking in their own glory. For her to be in a position of privilege and acknowledge that there are others who don’t get to enjoy that privilege speaks volumes about her character, IMO.

    I’m glad she stands by what she said. I have no respect for people who say something, then take it back when questioned about it.

  • Tracy

    I’m proud of her for what she said. She stated the obvious, which is why I turned away from the show. Kudos to her!

    I think it’s great. She has a black daughter, I’m sure that makes her view things in a different light than if she were white.

    I guess that saying off the record does not mean what it use to mean. But her comments were just her honest reaction and thee is noting wrong with that.

  • ….

    @hk: Her daughter is biracial.
    It takes two black parents to make a black child, just as it takes two white parents to make a white child.
    There is nothing wrong with it. It’s just fact.

    Stella looks so much like her dad.

  • Lea

    I’m so proud of her, and always proud to be her fan. She’s honest and tell it how it is. Also she was stating a fact. Don’t get why some hate on what she’s saying, for having an opinion. We live in 2013!

    Plus like someone said, she has a biracial daughter of course that’s gonna make her views differently.
