Lorde Clarifies Taylor Swift Comments in New Blog Post

Taylor Swift heads inside a dance studio for the fourth day in a row on Tuesday (October 1) in Los Angeles.

The day before, the 23-year-old entertainer was seen making her way into the studio for another class.

Singer Lorde recently clarified the comments she made about Taylor, which suggested she may not be the best role model.

“i think i cocked that up a bit and what i said wasn’t put in context also. what i meant was: there’s a lot of importance placed on physical perfection in this industry, and i wish my favourite stars didn’t look perfect,” Lorde wrote on her Tumblr. “…i think fans (me included) have these feelings of worthlessness, like they’ll never be as pretty/talented/whatever, as a result of this intense photoshop culture and the endless strive for perfection.” Lorde also ended the blog post with an apology.

“i think i cocked that up a bit and what i said wasn’t put in context also. what i meant was: there’s a lot of importance placed on physical perfection in this industry, and i wish my favourite stars didn’t look perfect because i think fans (me included) have these feelings of worthlessness, like they’ll never be as pretty/talented/whatever, as a result of this intense photoshop culture and the endless strive for perfection. ts was the first person i thought of, which i regret. she happens to be good looking, but i think she actually uses her other imperfections in an incredibly powerful and relatable way. taylor swift has a very unique vision, which i admire. i think somewhere along the line also there was a misquote where people got the impression i thought writing about love was shameful. i don’t! i just haven’t found a way of doing it which is powerful and innovative, which is why i don’t.

ps. i am very very new to this whole thing. i will probably never be the kind of role model for my fans that ts is for hers. i admire her very much for this reason. basically, this is an apology for not thinking too hard before i speak. peace.”

All I have to say is I’m from new Zealand but have no interest in lordes music but seriously girl you need to stop freaking talking and putting your foot in your mouth they should have taught you how to word things in interviews your to young and it shows.

# 2

I think it’s funny how a girl with only 265,000 Facebook likes and 212,000 Twitter followers is dissing girls who are a heck of a lot more successful than herself. She must be jealous of them. She is destined to be a one-hit wonder. Her attitude killed her. What a loser! Her record company needs to muzzle her ASAP. She is getting worse than Kelly Osborne.

Lordes has been hyped up in New Zealand since last year. I’m kind of over her already. She serriously needs to learn a bit of tact. Only when she is a huge success can Lorde start voicing her opinion. Baby steps!

# 4

@Cleo: So because Lorde doesn’t have a “huge success” yet she can’t say what she thinks? Wow! In that case, I have no idea why you are talking…

# 5

I have a feeling that the first 3 comments come from the same person…

# 6

@tick: That girl (who is 16, SEVEN years younger than Swift) had her first single go to number 1 on Itunes and 3 on the Billboard chart and went 3x platinum. Six of her non released songs have charted, I’m pretty sure she’s successful in her own right, considering she hasn’t even been around for a year and she’s foreign. Lorde is honest, whether you like it or not. People tweet their opinion on celebs everyday, why can’t she voice hers?

# 7

What’s wrong with what she said in that statement? Seems pretty true and most girls could probably relate to what she’s saying.

# 8

Someone wants attention, huh? Never heard of this person before. Name dropping isn’t cook, mkay…

# 9

Wow Taylor looks like Kate Upton without the boobs. Yeah, Lourde seems a little uppity.

@tick:

Oh, because popularity and talent go hand in hand? HAH
How old are you? 15?!

I tink that what @tick meant is that you can’t build a career you’re barely starting dissing someone who’s already on top of the world.
Of course Lorde can give her opinion, what she shouldn’t do is diss other people. Anyway, I have no idea who this Lorde is but it was so nice of her to clarify what she really meant.

I don’t know who this person is but if she wants to get taken seriously she needs to find another way to go about it. Who wants to be the unknown, upstart who gets popular for dissing popular singers? People will start looking for her to continue to be like this and nobody will be actually checking for her music. I don’t know if it’s a misquote or not, but it’s certainly not the way to go. I say this as a person with a Marketing degree, not as a fan bc I don’t listen to Taylor or Selena’s music. But at least I know who they are.

Chart News, Lorde’s debut 110k-120k debut. Taylor Swift debut for Red 1.2 mil.

Taylor 1st Album at 16 sold 5 mil copies WW. Girl, needs to STFU..

Do I need to say more about Avril Jr?

Can you imagine Rihanna (not American) saying this about Beyoncé when she first hit the scene? NO.. Fire your PR Now!!

Thank you, sir behalf info, I wait for a new update filter

Taylor’s still on top of the world :P

Never heard of Lorde before all this happened. She needs to grow up. But on second thought, she’s just 16.
