Lea Michele Opens Up About Cory Monteith: 'There Was No Greater Man'

Lea Michele has broken her silence on the tragic death of her beloved boyfriend Cory Monteith just one day before his Glee tribute episode is set to air.

“For me personally, I’ve lost two people: Cory and Finn,” the 27-year-old Glee star told TV Week Australia. “We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him. It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic.”

“Everyone is asking: ‘Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?’, but the truth is it’s no harder at work than it is in life,” Lea continued. “So we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together.”

“I woke up every single day feeling like I was in some sort of spell or something, that I was lucky enough to have him in my life,” Lea shared. “There was no greater man than Cory, so for the time we spent together, I consider myself very lucky.”

Be sure to tune into Glee tomorrow night to see the full tribute episode.

As much as I loved Glee and Cory, he was a drug abuser. He obviously was more into the drugs than her.

” many other actors returned to pay tribute to Cory…even ones with less of a story connection to Finn than Diana had!” the source told Radar.
“Remember, she played his GIRLFRIEND on the series, and was a major part of his storyline.”
The insider reveals that Monteith’s girlfriend, LEA MICHELE, and co-creator, Ryan Murphy, “intensely dislike Dianna and have both worked to marginalize her as much as possible.”
“They never saw her as a team player,” the insider added.
“They simply did not want her sharing the glory for this very special episode.”

I hope beyond hope that all who come here to trash Lea suffer a terrible, heartbreaking loss, and all have one person standing off in the periphery of their lives shouting taunts and jeers, telling that that what they feel isn’t real, that they are milking it for attention and that their grief is invalid because the person they are grieving for was flawed. She may be a celebrity and the only time you see her face is on a gossip blog, but she is as real as you are and her pain is as real as yours. You deserve to suffer the way she has suffered and endure the hate that you are spewing at her tenfold.

people here are forgetting that he was a drug addict and he brought this on himself. Sure, he was good in Glee but drugs were his choice.

  23. 23
    Jane Says:

@Cara: Nobody’s forgetting that. They’re just not heartless idiots like some of you and are smarter than the assumption that it defines his entire life.

    Lea, you’re wonderful.

    JJ THE EXPAT Says:

I do feel for Lea and the cast of Glee. It can’t be easy to lose someone that you loved and worked with. She seems like a kind-hearted down to Earth individual. I hope she finds happiness and love with someone new when she’s ready.

    Te Says:

It does not matter what he was or what he did. He died, so have some respect, you would all expect the same if the tables were turned. We are all human, we all make mistakes daily. Everyone keeps forgetting that. Very sad that in todays society we still have this disregard for each other.

  27. 27
    oz Says:

Lea, keep relying on the ppl around you that love you, it will help you as it will them.

    God Bless,

  28. 28
    ??? Says:

STHU Leeee. You’re using him every day. Let him RIP. He was a heroin JUNKIE who relapsed probably because you drove him to it by never shutting up and giving him a moment’s peace when he finished rehabbing. And now you’re milking his death for all it’s worth. GO AWAY attention who/re!

    jessy Says:

Some people are really mean and disrespectful ! drug addict or not, he was a talented and generous young man! so let him rest in peace by showing some respect !

  30. 30
    rdh Says:

@Cara: I agree with you! I am truly sorry when anyone passes, but it was his choice…he chose drugs. While his friends and coworkers may miss him, the rest of the world is tired of having an addict idolized.

  31. 31
    Really? Says:

It’s really sad that he passed away at such an early age with such a bright future…but to say that “there was no greater man?” He was a flawed individual who had a serious drug problem. The message/lesson here should be that messing with heroin or other hard drugs usually results in a ruined reputation or tragedy. If it’s heroin against man…heroin is going to take man down everytime.

  32. 32
    I would say Says:

Just the thought of having Lea as your girlfriend is enough to send most into relapse.

uh, when is she going to get off the cory monteith death coattails? now it’s just obnoxious.

  35. 35
    ann Says:

She’s obviously in denial about his drug addiction. He cared more about heroin than he did about her.

  36. 36
    Lilly Says:

@go go: What an ass hole comment. maybe he would be a better man if he was sober and making ass hole statements like you?? I prefer a sweet kind person who has substance abuse issues over a sober person who clearly has there head up there ass. …jerk

    Carol Says:

    @Bree:

Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode. I’ve got a box of tissues next to me. Being as much in love with Cory as she was/is, I think it will be a very long time before Lea allows herself to meet someone like Cory was or close to it.

I lost my Dad 5 years ago to Kidney failure. He WAS a honest hard working man, who took great care of his wife and children. He didn’t need illegal drugs to get through his day’s. To read “there was no greater man than Cory”, I disagree with that statement so much. My Dad was a greater man than Cory.

The glee cast and producers should be busing doing anti-drug PSAs not acting like Cory was some kind of hero.
