Emma Watson Reunites with 'Perks' Director for 'While We’re Young'

It has just been announced that Emma Watson will be re-teaming with her The Perks Of Being A Wallflower director Stephen Chbosky for a new film titled While We’re Young!

The 23-year-old actress will star in the film, which is based on the Adena Halpern novel “29, While We’re Young,” according to Deadline.

The film will be about a 75-year old woman, still feeling frisky, realizes that she has far more in common with her 29-year old granddaughter than with her stuffy 55 year old daughter. She’s granted a birthday wish and gets to be 29 again, for a day. She uses the time to go on an adventure with her now same-aged granddaughter.

ARE YOU EXCITED to see Emma Watson in the new film???

Yey! New movie for Emma. :D

  • Janire

    I like her!!

  • sam

    great. I miss her

  • Fercat

They’re already filming a movie with that exact same title.

This is probably a spoof report. But a good one nevertheless.

  • Cate

I wonder which role she is playing? The granddaughter or younger version of the grandmother. They’ll probably need to age the characters down as Emma would not be believable as a 29-year old.

  • IMO

Not sure Emma can pass for 29 but the plot sounds good.

  • Lisa

    Emma is so A W E S O M E , she will win Oscar soon.

  • Cate

@yeah i don’t think so. Emma can’t pass for late twentys and her performance in perks was meh totally overshadow by Ezra and Logan.

  • Toni

No, she is a pretty mediocre actress and why the F do we need to start casting 23 year olds as older now too? There are so many great actresses in the correct age range to play 29! Stupid. It’s either about the financing or the film or a blind friendship this director has with her.

  • Johnson

    I love her. She’s hot!

  • Lisa

@Toni: Rupert or Dan stan… Zzzzz… Go Emma!

  • Cate

@Toni: That’s a good point actually. It’s already hard enough for actresses in that age range to get good roles.

  • who!

she is a dullsom child looking

  • Ashley

Great for her. They may cut down the age of characters.
I don’t see people complaining about Jen Lawrence playing older characters. Those can easily go to actresses that age too.
Emma is a good actress. She was good in Perks and even better in TBR (even though the movie sucked)

  • Danielle

Emma is lovely, I like her acting.

  • Anna

I just want to say to whoever bashes Emma’s acting chops:

With the first film she did after Potter,Emma managed to give an incredible performance and end up winning many awards from film criticcircles (San Diego Critics Awards,Phoenix Awards,St.Louis,LAFCA,Boston etc). For 3 straight years she is ranked as a top-tires contender for an oscar(last year her not getting nominated for Perks was considered a snub) and made many lists for “best performances in 2012″.Now rumour has it that her perfromance in Aronofsky’s Noah blew everyone away and the cast and crew raved about her while filming.Del Toro described her as “perfect” and all that while he have an actress who had no acting experience out of a 10 year old franchise.Give her a chance…

That being said i don;t feel strong about the plot of the film but the creative team behind it are insanly talented so i will wait for more information.

  • Lisa

    @Anna: Very well said! Thanks!

  • Tyles

It’s not exactly an original idea, but the team behind it are really talented and I’ve liked Emma in every film I’ve seen her in. I don’t see the age thing as a problem. Glad Chbosky is getting back behind the camera.

C’mon… Now ANYONE can win an Oscar, it’s all just popularity and having Weinstein on your side. That being said, Ezra Miller STOLE The Perks of Being a Wallflower with his performance, every critic was amazed by him, the only good critic I read about Emma in Perks was by Entertaiment Weekly… “TBR” was the worst of Coppola. Let’s be honest Emma is probably a nice girl but a mediocre actress, she needs a few acting lessons. One thing on her favor, Aronofsky pull out something good out of Natalie Portman, let’s hope he did the same with Emma…
