Charlie Hunnam Didn't Want Attention Like Robert Pattinson

Charlie Hunnam continues to film scenes for his television series Sons of Anarchy on Tuesday (October 15) in Los Angeles.

The 33-year-old actor made headlines once again this past weekend when he dropped out of the highly anticipated movie Fifty Shades of Grey. Now, there are tons of reports out there trying to speculate why he decided not to play Christian Grey.

“He dropped out of the project because he didn’t want to be typecast,” a source told People. “He didn’t want the Robert Pattinson-esque attention that would come along with taking on this role.”

    Good idea. Too much controversy and hype over this movie could backfire. Many roles have labeled and followed an actor or actress, creating future casting problems.

    I knew Charlie dropping out of the movie had nothing to do with his commitment to his television show. He let the critics and his fans get to him. I just don’t understand why he even accepted the part in the first place knowing how big this role would be.

    Charlie is sexy Says:

    Shame in you Jared. The quote doesn’t say he doesn’t want to be like Robert Pattinson. He just doesn’t want the pathetic attention that the characters roll will bring. Because this character is Edward Cullen just with a name change and career change. It’s twilight fan fiction and you should all feel pathetic for supporting this book/ movie. Just go rent a porno.

    even tho i didnt want him as christian i feel sorry for the poor guy and the overwhelming comments and media critics overnight

    He really should not have messed everyone around. It is very unprofessional to back out now. Why did he sign on in the first place if he did not want attention? He obviously knew what he was getting in to.

    Dumb move for his part
    The producers for this movie are the same of The Social Network, the new Tom Hanks movie and some others.
    He should not have signed a contract and then left, very unprofessional .
    His almost absent career will suffer, he is not that talent or pretty enough.

    Consistently choosing the right roles seems to be really hard but people like Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, and Ryan Gosling are really good at it.

    Robert Pattinson got the same criticism, when he first got the part. But he’s chosen well and demonstrated his acting range since then, so no problems for RP – the fangirls are just NOISE. I think Charlie is probably an accomplished actor as well (haven’t seen that many filsm of his) but he is TOO careful. As Paulo Coelho says;

    Excessive caution destroys the soul and the heart; living is an act of courage

    But anyway, all the best to Charlie, as he seems like such a lovely and humble guy.

    oh sure because filming twilight fanfic is a great move… dropping out was the smartest thing he’s ever done

    @Lisa Rowe:
    His show SOA is phenomenal, and has a cult following. Have you not seen Green Street Hooligans? Come on now. Since he started back as teenager he has had a steady career and following. SOA fans and Hunnam fans alike have rejoiced that he did not stay with this part. This man has talent, and wasting it on a film like 50 Shades would be a shame. It would lead to him being known as a sex symbol for desperate females, and distract from his other work. And let’s face it, the majority of people on the face of the planet refer to R.Pat as Edward or Twilight, and not his name. Can you blame a man in his 30s for having a little self pride? If that is in fact the actual reason. One can never be too cautious with their legacy.

    Nadia Says:

    @Asha: I read somewhere saying it was never a done deal, and he told his agent he was gonna pull out long ago. If you notice, there was news saying he had turned the role down before he got cast. Apparently all these weeks’ time still failed to make up his mind. He didn’t seem to want to work with the director.

    Smart move there Charlie…on all parts. Anyone who hadn’t heard of him up until now surely will know his name now…even if they’re not a fan of the books/film!! He could potentially get more viewers in current and future projects just for pure curiosity

    EndOfTime Says:

    This is smart, I don’t understand why anyone would wanna be in this movie especially if their care about their career

    I didn’t know Charlie before…..doesn’t now interest me more than the film but interests only me of him!

    Love Charlie from Italy!!!!!!!
