Why Isn't 'South Park' New Tonight? Studio Misses Deadline!

For the first time ever in its seventeen season run, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have missed their deadline and a new episode of the animated comedy will not be airing tonight (October 16).

The show famously runs its production different than every other animated show on television, which are normally written several months in advance, according to EW. South Park remains current by creating all the episodes from scratch six days before they air.

Unfortunately on Tuesday evening, South Park Studios lost power for three hours.

“From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of their computers were down for hours and they were unable to finish episode 1704 ‘Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers’ in time for air tonight,” Comedy Central said in a statement.

“It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen,” co-creator Trey Parker added.

ARE YOU SAD there won’t be a new South Park tonight?

    when will it air tomorrow?

  • CrippleFight

DAMNIT! I had my alarm set for this new episode and wondered why the hell it turned out to be an old one! This article answered my question though. And still, seventeen years of sponaneous comedy classics, that’s definitely holds some kind of record.

I’m suing. False advertising. Thanks for wasting my time.

I was disappointed simply because I was excited about the title of the episode, but I am not upset knowing the situation at hand. God knows they will probably make an episode out of ithis using all the people that are going to bitch and moan. As far as the replay, definitely a good call running Scott Tenorman Must Die.
