Chris Hemsworth & Natalie Portman: 'Thor' Covers 'FilmInk' November 2013
Here’s what the 30-year-old Aussie actor had to share with the mag about the movie:
On playing the character for the third time: “Obviously there’s a huge familiarity and comfort with stepping back into it, but you then hit a whole different challenge with not wanting to repeat what you’ve done, and ensuring that it’s an evolution. That’s a combination of working with the writers and directors and trying to track the story and make it something advanced to what you’ve done. It’s a bit of both, mate.”
On what’s changed about Thor this time around: “Previously, he was vying to be the rightful heir to the throne, and he was trying to prove himself worthy of that, whereas this time round, his responsibility and the weight of that position is now tested. He’s finally now in that position, or about to step into it, and it’s now put to the test – where does your allegiance lie? And your responsibilities – are they on Earth or Asgard? And there’s also the issue of the weight of the burden of the throne, as well as Loki’s involvement. You start to see a conflicted Thor. Loki is the last person in the universe that he wants to go to for help, but he has his back against the wall, and he has no choice.”
On whether Marvel keeps him in the loop: “Not really! I’ve found myself on set reading something on the internet going, ‘Hang on. Is this what’s happening this week?’ And they’ll go, ‘Yes, it is. Sorry that you had to find out this way!’”
