Charlie Hunnam: First Interview After 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Exit

Charlie Hunnam has broken his silence since dropping out of the highly anticipated film Fifty Shades of Grey!

“I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive,” the 33-year-old English actor shared to E! during the Hogs for Heart event benefiting One Heart Source Education Programs in Africa.

    He’s hot.

    Asha Says:

I didn’t know he was English. I googled him and we even have the same birthday. He did good by dropping Fifty Shades of Grey. Now everyone knows his name and he won’t be attached to a film that is going to flop.

It is starting to look like the long suffering 50 Shades project has finally been nipped in the bud.

I love Charlie Hunnam. See him clean cut and fresh and buff in Pacific Rim; so different from his SOA character. However Deadfall was awful; they had such a great cast by why did they have to play up that incest angle to titillate people and Olive Wilde always plays similar ingenue roles? It was off-putting.

    Zedd Says:

So now it’s family, LOL. What a complete disaster for him.

    Jen Says:

I am wondering if his girlfriend or partner or whoever she is may have something to do with it too. It would be difficult to see your significant other doing those things with another person on screen.

@Zedd: Disaster for him???? Ha Ha Ha!!! The film is a disaster and he jumped a sinking ship! It was a great career move! Charlie Hunnam is a very smart man! You cannot make a good movie out of rubbage writing!

    MrsOzzie Says:

@Jen: No he got a look at the script and it sucked!

    MrsOzzie Says:

You cannot go from the brilliant writing of Kurt Sutter and the SOA scripts to pure trash. He has morals. He did the right thing for his career.

    Lee Says:

He knew what the movie was about and he knew what he had to do. It was a big publicity stunt for him. First, he gets chosen, media gets crazy over him. He said in interviews that he likes the character and ready for it and then suddenly dropped out. Till the movie will release, people will continue bring him up and when the movie flops , everyone will think he was smart dropping his name out. Then he will say things like “I knew this would happen that’s why I dropped out.”

Some thinks that he lost the biggest chance of being famous by dropping his name, but now he has more publicity then the cast of this movie.

Love him! Wish him all the luck!

@Lee: Knowing what a film is going to be about and reading a horrific script are 2 different things. The writing is said to be horrible. They have already called in a script doctor. We will see if this shipwreck ever goes into production. They should have just left it as a book.

    Nadine Says:

Dude’s got big balls to take the role, even bigger balls to drop it. He could get blacklisted by Universal. The problem sure is with the script, or why else would the studio hire an Oscar nominating writer to rewrite it? Now the fall is on the studio, look how desperate they are searching for his replacement to get the project back on track. In’s gonna be a total lose. So good luck with Hunnam, I would love to see him more on the big screen.

    MrsOzzie Says:

Anyone who does not think Charlie Hunnam is VERY HOT/SEXY has never seen a sex scene on Sons of Anarchy!

    The man sizzles!

    Gms Says:

@Zedd; Now it’s family? Why a disaster? …For whatever reason he dropped out of the movie it’s not anybody’s business. He didn’t want to do it or didn’t have the time, point blank. That situation gave him a lot more exposure and that is really good for any actor out there good or bad it doesn’t matter now he is way on the radar. He doesn’t need a big movie to get better, he is a damn good actor (Sons of Anarchy check it out) I don’t know if you have a family on your own but when you get older you realize that family it’s all that matters, and if you do have a family and you are old, well you’re on the wrong track.

    Juuls Says:

I feel sorry for Charlie and the whole debacle surrounding Fifty Shades. He is such a good actor. All the noise around this will die down and he can go back to doing what he is good at. At least more people know about him and have seen his work and how talented he is. Not to mention super hot and sexy!

    JT Says:

What some people have failed to understand is that Charlie grows his hair and beard for his SOA character. He looks different in his movies. He is so incredibly sexy. The odds of Fifty Shades being a career boost for him are slim. He did the right thing. The movie will be more beneficial to an unknown actor.

  21. 21
    Kitoree Says:

@Lee: If you notice, Charlie has not said one word about a lousy script or the way the entire production has been handled. If it flops, he won’t say a word, either. He has too much class. These assumptions are ridiculous.

Didn’t know who Charlie Hunnam was until was mentioned for CG I looked him up and thought wow might have possibilites! I watched SOA for 3 wks to see acting skills. Very Good. Ok kept on watching SOA and I have all 5 seasons and have watched them all several times. I stayed up 46 hours last week to watch them. I have insominia so that was nothing for me. I couldn’t stop I wanted to see what would happen next. Grandchildren can’t believe I watch it!!! I am a great grandmother 71 years old and can’t get enough of the show or Charlie. I could be a cougar real easy with that hunk of Englishman!!! I don;t look my age. I am OFTEN told I look 50. Still too old but a great granny can dream. Glad he didn’t do CG now. It would have been wonderful but no for his career. Rob Pattinson WHO???? NEW BRITISH HEART THROB-HUNK ON AMERICAN SOIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @charlotte crowder:
I’m with you. Didn’t even know his name. Just finished watching previous 5 seasons. Charlie is fabulous. I’m 70. Loved CG but this guy has eyes and a smile that are too soft. He is really sweet. Unfortunately I have cavities older than he is. Charlie is a hunk like no one else. He is intelligent and really doing the best thing for his career. I look forward to watching him forever. My children and grandchildren think I’m a perv. Gee I hope not.
