He was amazing in he Fall. I am disappointed because I think he’s kind of selling out, but this role will give him exposure and that’s good I guess.

Now they just have to get rid of that ugly kaant Dakota Whatever and we’ll be all set.

Poor casting this movie will suck… I was so looking foward to seeing it but I guess I don’t have to.

Jamie is fat with beer belly from his shirtless pic on JJ in 2013, guess he needs to work out a lot, but will thry find times to get his body in shape with such tight deadline coming?
We have to prepare to see him in manheels coz he looks short next too so tall haggard Dakota

  • anne

Guess we need to start bet when he’s gonna leave his wife to hook up with more A List woman or perhaps has somevaffair with ugly Dakota.
No worry about his wife, she’s been divorcing Collin Ferrell before, she will get another Z List younger boytoy.

  • Pauline

Good it was either him / or unknown actor ! So cooooool I love him

  • Pauline

@mary I totally agree with you ! He’s a great actor ! Let’s take for example twilight saga , it made Rob and Kristen famous . It’s not because you did one movie that your career is over .
And fifty shade is not only about sex / and nudity …

  • Yeah

I love him, he deserves better!

  • Nicky

I loved it loved it loved!!! so much better than Charlie. I was totally rooting for him! Jamie, please now you only have to work on your heavy accent, darling… but i don’t think it will be a problem and of course dye your hair copper yey

  • brightviolette

I couldn’t be more happy! They made a great choice!

  • Jessica

I do not know this guy :-) All I want is to watch the movie. I’m sure Fifty Shades of Grey will rock. Is it August 1st now?

  • http://Twitter Ana

He’s not even good looking let alone to die for like Christian Grey is in the book. You’re supposed to melt when you see him but he’s almost ugly compared to the description of CG. He does have a great body but that’s just about it. He’s also short and CG was tall. If anything. I prefered Charlie Hunan. He was at least good looking. And he had a nice body.

  • Claudia

Terrible choice. Is appear as a sexteen years old.

    I don’t watch this film.

  • Oh dear…

There is a reason why no A B or C list actor would have taken this role as they knew it would ruin their reputations.

No wonder considering the movie is based on a badly written story from a fan fiction Twilight forum!

  • http://JustJared Jan

He could be great as Christian! He needs to put more weight on and bulk up to look a little more manley, thus giving him a bigger presence on the screen. The skinny “waif” look is a little “girlie” or “gay”, which is fine for a model – but not for this powerful role!

  • http://JustJared Jan

It won’t ruin his career. It didn’t ruin Sharon Stone’s in Basic Instinct.
It’s really about the Director making it happen and creating the likeable and intense character we want to see….subtle always goes farther…”little is more”. A look can be more informative than dialogue sometimes.

@Emma: I assume that includes you getting a life too huh?

  • Brazil

Thank god Bomer turned this down. Smart to choose an unknown.

  • Janice

    You are so right!

  • jj

@Emma:well Emma looks like you don’t have much going on in your life if you have time to make comments on this topic!

  • DiatribesAndOvations

I think this is a really good choice. He’s much closer to the man I envisioned when reading th books, was very sexy in “Once Upon A Time” and really has nothing to lose.

  • Skounoupi

YES YES YES YES! way better than the other one!! i’m happy!!

  • http://@iamlokiodinson one who shall not be named

@Jen: Exactly! Maybe that’s the reason why Matt Bomer didn’t sign up for it, WHAT WOULD HIS KIDS THINK???!!!

@Stess: LOL that made me laugh.

    yesss a thousand times yessss

    @Oh dear…: Exactly! I totally agree.

  • Ha

He’s cute. I guess. But not overwhelmingly hot…

  • just gotta wait n see!

he has something of henry cavill in him obviously not as gorgeous as henry but looks wise hes more CG than charlie but got nothin but respect for charlie. he didnt feel right doing it whether it was schedule or the script. quite frankly, dakota is the bad choice lookswise-she is the complete opposite of the constant ‘anna’ descrption in the books. we’ll just haev to wait ans see. mabye she’ll surprise.

  • Fan

Thank God Charlie got out in time…good luck, new guy, you’re gonna need it BIG TIME.

  • Missy

I prefer Charlie but I’m okay with Jamie, too :)

  • A

Loved Jamie in Marie Antoinette and Once, but I’m still figuring out how I feel about him playing Christian Grey. I’m just glad his fellow Irishman and Once co-star Colin O’Donoghue didn’t get cast because then I might have actually had to watch it.

  • Jo

Is it just me or is this guy incredible… boring???

  • mm

Hot guy. I wonder how he play Christian…
I think that Charlie H. is hotter, but we’ll see when film will be out :P

Another struggling pseudo-actor? Good. No real actor with self-respect would take this role. Disgrace. This project should be cancelled as the book is just riduculous and pathetic.

  • Dasha

    I’m not convinced at all

  • GFW

“…he’s such a talented actor very very underrated,…”
Could you bring me up to speed? What’s he been that you suggest hse’s underrated and what’s he been that reveals he’s such a talent? Or is this your crush speaking?
who has never heard of him as in ever

  • GFW

    @just me:
“Another struggling pseudo-actor? Good. No real actor with self-respect would take this role. Disgrace. This project should be cancelled as the book is just riduculous and pathetic.”
They need a “struggling” actor willing to do this role. They’re exploiting both actors who choose to “go there” with this topic.
In reality the bailing of CH was a sign that they’re not ready nor prepared and now the director, crew, and actors are all way behind schedule. It’ll be rushed, not sincere, and made for the the “Twilight” audience. What’s sad? Is people who suffer from what CG does being exploited for money.
Fact. It should have ended with the first book. Let him get with his shrink, get well, mend, heal, deal with his abuse, then meet Ana later once there (well body/mind/spirit connected), and not until then. This book is utter nonsense in the real world of how these things work out. It’s Hollywood struggling, totally.

  • GFW

Do you want to bet they’re paying him more than the offered Charlie? This production is desperate to get started on this. This guy was free, available and willing. Finding out they, “they” wanted only to pay $125K for the lead role was appalling. Then think, even with kick backs, if he’s smart enough to suggest them, which they hope not, you have to tour and answer questions upon questions about this. No. It really should have remained on the shelves, as in book shelves. I like her, Sam, but still it’s a cursed project.

  • DisappointedFan

This project should have been canned just after Charlie quit. Unfortunately, greedy Hollywood will still make it. Jamie is not Christian at all, but he was the only one willing to do it. He is too short, out of shape, and in my opinion not seasoned enough to portray a complicated character like CG. Only time will tell if the film is up to par, and if careers will be ruined or not. Oh, and don’t get me started on Dakota Johnson. She is the worst casting choice I’ve ever seen beside Kristin Stewart.

  • just me

Hayden Christensen should audition for that partat least be in it soniquete.

  • just me

Hayden Christensen should have audition for the part or be in it somewhere.

  • Elena

Poor Jamie. He could have had a good career. This is professional suicide.

  • ana steele wannabe

Ian is still my #1 choice, but Jamie is definately a better fit than Charlie Hunnam. Now if Jamie can have the muscles shown in the pictures it will be a great move to watch. The book will be a hard one to match but I will be 1st in line for the movie.

Meanwhile….can Dakota be replaced now? She looks a lot older than she is which throws the age difference needed for the book. She also doesn’t look as innocent as Ana is to be. Just sayin….

  • Cheryl

Most coveted role? Doesn’t sound like anyone was lining up to play the part.

  • Isablle

Now that’s what I’m talking about.
