Justin Long: I Don't Use Facebook Anymore

Amanda Seyfried runs to the gym while her boyfriend Justin Long walks her dog Finn on Wednesday (October 23) in New York City.

The 35-year-old actor recently opened up about why he doesn’t use Facebook anymore.

“I tried to use Facebook at one point for a couple months to keep in touch, but I realized there’s like a thing about just friendship in general,” Justin told Fox News. “There’s a reason why you don’t keep in touch…I have a couple friends from high school that I still call them on the phone, which is really old fashioned and weird.”

A few days earlier, Amanda was spotted taking a stroll with Finn during a break from shooting her upcoming film While We’re Young.

You’re not old fashioned at all. I ONLY have an account for family contact and a few very very very few friends. I check in maybe every 6 weeks and I never EVER post publically. It’s one on one messaging only.

Well, I must be “old fashioned” too. I mean, I get his point. I never understood that passion for facebook. I’ve had an account since 2008 but I have never posted anything yet. There’s like practically nothing on my wall and I’m sure people think wtf I’m doing here lol. It’s just that I don’t like sharing my life and exposing it on the Internet. It’s not like there’s only my closest who are gonna see that. I have “friends” who are not REALLY friends in real life. And I feel like, posting pics of my life would be weird. I only message my actual friends and “like” pics and stuff. But yeah, it’s so odd how people got so into this way of exposing their lives and thoughts. I mean, I know with MSN it was the same but, I don’t know, on FB you get to see the pics and almost everything about someone, if you’re identified in other people’s pics and all. Ugh. I just can’t like it. I don’t know why I have an account tbh. Ha. Justin Long is right! There’s a reason why you’re not in touch with some people I guess…… if those people are not meant to be in your life, then whatever, life goes on without them

Had FB for a year and cancelled it. I don’t have time to read all the updates of my friends and check on all the photos. My real friends are all listed on my cellphone and I have their mails anyway, so that’s enough for me.

Facebook is high school digitised. It’s good if you are meeting new people all the time (starting university or course) and want to get invited to the new social functions or if you have relatives and close friends all over the world and really want to keep in touch.

Keen is right, FaceBook is good if you are meeting people all the time or have family and true friends scattered all over the place. Otherwise it is pointless.

I left Facebook 3 years ago, and have not missed it at all. I am 21. Find it pointless and it exposes the worst side of people. I love my friends, but we all keep in contact by email/phone and meeting each other rather than in the artificial space created by facebook. It is not weird, more and more people are coming off it these days.
