Musician Lou Reed Dead at 71

Famed musician Lou Reed has died at the age of 71, Rolling Stone reports.

He was best known for his work as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the Velvet Underground, and his solo career.

Reed fused street-level urgency with elements of European avant-garde music, marrying beauty and noise, while bringing a whole new lyrical honesty to rock & roll poetry,” the mag wrote.

While Lou underwent a liver transplant in May, the cause of death is currently unknown.

Our thoughts are with his family and close ones during this difficult time.
