Faulkner/Franco - WIN @ 11/04/2013 at 2:17 pm

James Franco is a good looking guy but we all know this. However, on a serious note As I Lay Dying is simply brilliant and faithful to William Faulkner novel.

In fact, I would even go there and say it is Oscar worthy. Yes, I went there.

A must watch for Faulkner fans, heck everyone. Don’t listen to the negative critics but experience it for yourself. Faulkner is not to everyone’s taste but Franco has achieved something special that will last and would prove especially useful, if you are studying the novel.

good for franco always trying different things and its nice when ppl recognize that, ppl like to criticize vs give credit for at least trying..

Rotten Tomatoes always ? @ 11/05/2013 at 8:44 am

@heeyyy: Yep, it was an amazing movie.

Regarding some bad reviews, I have noticed in particular on rotten tomatoes that they haven’t been putting up the good reviews even when they have been informed to do so.

They seem to do this with most of Franco’s directorial efforts a lot, so it appears that his movies looks bad to everyone. I urge people to watch this, it’s great.

This is history in the making, as no one has attempted this movie before in 80 years, so instead of some people finding extreme fault with it, they should be lucky that Franco even tried and in my opinion successfully.

thats exactly it, a lot of his movies always come out as being bad or someone somewhere gives it a bad review and thats the only review that the public sees while others who actually watch the movies praise it and say how good it was. i cant wait to see child of god and the sound and the fury im sure they will be great too, i feel like these movies are better than some of the mainstream stuff he does (like homefront?)

@heeyyy: Yep, I’m looking forward to Child of God too and apparently, it’s outstanding in terms of pleasing Cormac McCarthy’s audience i.e. author of the book but not for everyone because of the subject matter.

Plus, apparently Scott Haze the lead gives an Oscar winning performance as well as the movie as a whole.

Furthermore, agree I’m also looking forward to The Sound and the Fury another Faulkner book sometime next year.

By the way, James Franco will be the best thing in Homefront no worries and from some limited reviews a great movie, if you like that sort of movie.

It doesn’t matter if he directors or stars in other people’s mainstream stuff because James Franco is one of the best actors of our generation, so it generally works as a great movie.

He certainly deserves an Oscar for his performance as Alien in Spring Breakers no matter what some people thought of that movie as a whole. A cult classic already with his character Alien being one of the top Halloween costumes of this year. So, the academy in their assessment of who should be nominated should take the campaign for Franco more seriously, and I hope he gets the nomination.

On his way to being one hell of a director too hence the hate. I love that he tries different things and that he doesn’t truly give a f**k to the haters anyway. Good example to always follow your dreams no matter the outcome. Oh, sorry answer is rather long….

dont worry about the long answer ! im iffy about alien i can see how he can be a beloved cult character i actually want to see spring breakers and judge for myself, hes been campaigning like no tomorrow for the oscar nom so i can see the role he played is special to him i hope he gets it i feel like those who watched it and understood the character for what he was really enjoyed it; in the homefront trailer he looked so good!

and yes its great he does his own thing and enjoys the different projects he does and doesnt care what ppl think as long as you believe what youre doing!
