Kristen Bell Covers 'Flare' December 2013 (Exclusive!)

Kristen Bell is dazzling red on the cover of Flare magazine’s December 2013 issue, provided exclusively to

Here’s what the 33-year-old actress had to share with the mag, which is on newsstands now:

On her worries about becoming a mother: “I kept saying to Dax in all sincerity during my pregnancy, ‘I just don’t know how I’m going to like her as much as I like the dogs.’ I was being serious. Because I f–king love my dogs; they are my children. I love people the more i know them, and I didn’t know her. It could’ve been a water bottle in my belly, that’s about how connected I felt to her during my pregnancy. But within about 24 hours after she came out, my hormones reset, and they reprogrammed my feelings about her.”

On her and Dax Shepard‘s Detroit past: “Dax and I would not have been friends in high school. He was a drug addict and he was wild, and I was very much a good girl who went to Catholic school. He is also five years older than I am, and he lived in Milford, which is a bit more drive-your-tractor-to-the-7-eleven-type Michigan, and I was closer to downtown Detroit.”

On secrets to a strong marriage: “Our main rule is: Check your ego at the door, and be aware of when the other person is spinning out. As artists, everything is vanity- and narcissism- driven: my career, the strategy behind it, the next level I want to hit, my photo shoot, how I was in my acting scene, my premiere. So we try to do a really good job of being human beings in the rest of our life.”

    Don’t like picture used for cover. Her hair is too stringy. I’m sure they could have come up with a better picture.

    This woman sounds like a moron. Why would you get pregnant and spend the entire pregnancy worried you wouldn’t love your child as much as you loved your dogs?
    It was probably just something she said that she thought sounded kooky and cute, but it comes off as ridiculous.

  • Courtney

    @Rocky have you ever thought Kristen’s hair maybe thinning due to hormonal fluctuations after having a child. as for what she said about not feeling attached to her daughter while pregnant yes that does sound strange just because you have pets doesn’t mean you don’t feel attached to your unborn child. when Lincolin is old enough to understand this interview she’s going to resent her mother majorly

  • Sarah

    @Courtney: I think she was very honest when she said that she didn’t knew if she would like her daughter as much as she liked her dogs BEFORE she was born! Do you love someone that you don’t know yet? have you ever been pregnant? hormones mess with your feelings! and nobody is obligated to love someone they don’t know yet!
    She didn’t say she hated her daughter, just that she was worried about her fellings towards her during the pregnancy! there’s no reason for her daughter resent her mother! your mom probably felt the same way while she was pregnant with you!
    Jeez! people make such a drama for so little!

  • M

    @Diedre: The only thing that’s ridiculous is your statement.

  • Paynz

    @Sarah: you said it perfectly
