J, to compromise what others consider art to them, no matter how much you as an individual do not see its artistic value, does not make you an artist. It makes you an elitist. Don’t dictate what art means.

@j: From what I’ve read over most of these reviews, most people are having a hard time understanding the second half of the word “ARTPOP” and how it’s present in the album. The way I see it, it’s not. But that does not mean this is not “ARTPOP” per se. The concept is about reversing Warhol and if that is the case, this album does so successfully. It takes pop and presents it as art. Pop is not changed it’s just labeled as art, much like Duchamp and his ready aides and Warhol taking the mundane and calling it art. But here, the artists must label the art as such, because it has degenerated into plastic; the painting of the soup can has become the soupcan and the soupcn has become the painting. If you consider this and the idea of appropriation, ARTPOP is the perfect manifesto for what Lady Gaga has been doing all her career; referencing, recontextualizing and seeing the art behind the pop. Just an observation.
